Re: Mesa Boogie Factory Tour (possible sticky)
Sweet deal . I got my Mark V as part of a trade for a TSL 602 (I bought the TSL for $700 meaning monetarily speaking, I spent $2000 for all this stuff) + $1300. I got back: a Mark V, a Tiny Terror, a Diamond Compressor and an MXR Carbon Copy.

Re: Mesa Boogie Factory Tour (possible sticky)
Always scour Ebay!
I was seeing both model A and B MKiv's on ebay for ~$1500~$1700 at the time I purchased mine. I got a Model A in a custom white tolex, in brand new condition, all original tubes, everything was MINT condition, for $1100+shipping! Patience my friend, a boogie is certainly worth every second of waiting! |

Re: Mesa Boogie Factory Tour
A factory tour is #1 on my list when I visit California. I want to see how they've changed since 2007 when this video was made. I might make a little somthin-somthin too while I'm there. Don't count on it being any time soon, tho.

Re: Mesa Boogie Factory Tour
I always associated Mesa with high gain. I have tried out a few in my time and there
is no question they are well made, but didnt really give me the sound I was looking for. One beef....Too many knobs and switches. lol

That's probably what they're best known for, but they do have simple amps (not simple by Mesa standards but by regular standards :P). Take the Electra-Dyne for example or the Trans-Atlantic to name a couple. My Mesa (Mark V) I think has the second most knobs/switches of the Mesa lineup, and I wouldn't have it any other way

Re: Mesa Boogie Factory Tour
I did the tour last year or so when I lived near by. It was a great day! Everyone there was great and you could really see the quality of the amps. I learned a lot.

Re: Mesa Boogie Factory Tour
I have a 1991 Quad Preamp, and they still answer the phone and know all the answers when I have questions... an amazing company....
Thanks for posting these!

Re: Mesa Boogie Factory Tour
Here's a little bit of Boogie history. An Extended factory tour if you will. If any of you own an original pre-1980 Mark 1, or Mark IIA, it was most likely made here:

For lack of a better term, Mesas are over-engineered. They're intentionally built tougher than they need to be. I doubt if Marshall's get touched by humans at all during the assembly process, whereas if you watch the Mesa videos I posted, you'll see the attention to detail the goes into every individual amp they put out. They also do something called the "hammer test," which basically means they whack the amps with a hammer to simulate a fall from a stack. Only the amps that pass the test make it out of the factory. That's the short version .

Re: Mesa Boogie Factory Tour
i was offered a Mk.1 Messa Boogie that had been re-valved and serviced every year since it was new for only £800 but i didn't have enough money for it
but i managed to get a mint 87' Marshall Master Line 30 with it's original cover in good condition for £100 and got £60 for my old Roland 15x

Re: Mesa Boogie Factory Tour
I had a Super 60 that I loved back in the 80s. I sold it to a friend of mine back in 89 and he still has it and swears by it. I have tried to buy it back several times and he won't do it!
