Re: Peavey Valve King 112

I have the 2x12. It's a decent amp, louder than hell, workable classic-rock distortions, will need help for modern metal tones. Good, Fendery cleans with earlier break-up, and versatile.

Shoddy jacks, I've heard of grounding issues, and the speakers are uninspring ... thuddy.

Re: Peavey Valve King 112

That second thread certainly does look substantial.

I've played a 112 for about 3 years now and have nothing but good things to say about it. I got it used for $280. Retubed it last year and it sounds better now, but not that it sounded bad before that.

Over time it's lost quite a bit of it's initial harshness. Mine sounds much warmer and smoother than any new ones I try at GC.

I agree that if you're into Metal, you need to look elsewhere or use a pedal. Otherwise, this amp can do a lot of good things. A great value for the money. NOT the Holy Grail. But a very solid work horse for the money.
