Interesting?
I'm sure we're gonna hear about this amp here sooner than later, so, let's all get familiar with it...

Re: Interesting?
I don't know if they've corrected the problems with the previous amps, but I'm sure people will buy this one, that's why I posted it.
Personally, the brand means little to me, if it was a fairly good and safe amp I'd buy one, but if their simpler amps had a potentially disastrous problem, imagine this. That's my concern. The amp will sell, that's a fact, we can only pray they somehow fixed all the issues before moving on to a more complex circuit.

Re: Interesting?
Where's that spirit of adventure? During testing we instrumented a FireChief modular prototype with stiff single phone wire sticking out all over. We needed to make measurements at a bunch of points with the amp under load (me playing). I think everyone involved got jolted atleast once and we kept a Halon bottle right nearby.
By the way, The Arcing & Sparking AmpCo is almost in business. Paperwork in process as I write. Oh and by the way, that's why it's called the FireChief...as a result of that type of testing, the amp(s) have survived many hours of use and dedicated attempts by multiple players to blow them up. Never failed, never even got hot...our ears however needed a rest. CoLabrador |

Re: Interesting?
If this amp ends up being reliable, I'd buy it, honestly.
Sounds like the guitar being used was a POS. That and the Tone King isn't a very good player, imo. |

Re: Interesting?
I don't think I've heard a worse demo of an amp. Between the guitar and the guitarist it was hard to get a sense of the amp. Not to be mean, but usually these demos are done by guitarists (and guitars) that can make a clock radio sound good...

Re: Interesting?
The so-called Tone King is an annoying character. I posted this because it was a demo offered by some Buggera guy, but I avoid Tone King reviews at all costs! lol

Re: Interesting?
At all costs? Okay - I guess you're entitled to your opinion, but 'at all costs' is pretty extreme. I guess there are some folks who like professionaly polished reviews from stores and magazines who are finantially motivated to produce polished reviews. For those who care, I do this b/c I enjoy it, and I give back as much as I can to the viewing community. I paid for NAMM out of my pocket, and had my coverage up there before ANY magazine or online entity. And this is the thanks I get. I appreciate it very much!

Re: Interesting?
Gotta love the internet - a place where everyone can hid behind their computer flaming off riduclious nonsense. While I'm taking my freetime to produce reviews & coverage so players can benefit & enjoy - this is the love I get in return. Class act my friend, class act! Thank you for the kind words. I love you too. Happy Valentines Day.

Also, TK, it's apparent that not everyone appreciates your style. And the 'Net isn't known for the extraordinary courtesy of its denizens. Honestly, did either of these facts surprise you? |

Re: Interesting?
I have heard some Bugerra's and they do sound sweet.. maybe they have fixed the issues... it's cool someone with not a lot of bread can get a great sounding amp... if only they lasted and weren't disposable.... unfortunately it seems most of them are...

Re: Interesting?
That's a great question ... each amp is like a guitar - they're all a bit different, each standing on it's own merrits ... for example, the ENGL is about as raw as they come. It's mean & aggressive. The Orange sounds really good, and in the world of modeling, I am blown away by how good the Fender Mustang sounds compared to the price-point. $300 for a stereo / modeling amp. It's craziness if you ask me. Then, there are amps I'll never part w/ like my vintage Marshall collection, etc. Truth is - it's a collection, and there isn't one favorite. I can't wait for the Carvin V3M - that was the hottest product at NAMM, followed up by the Jet City JCA22H (SLO tone in a 22w head) ... so those are on my radar as soon as they become available.

Re: Interesting?
Any idea what the price point will be on that new Jet City?

Re: Interesting?
Just like I don't have to watch your reviews, you don't have to look at my comments. I aint hiding anywhere...And I am certainly not going to argue with you. Keep doing what you do, if you like it. I am allowed to have an opinion, no? You know my opinion, so be it.

I'm sorry, but if this is all ridiculous stuff, why the reply? I know I wouldn't waste time with things I consider ridiculous, but that's just me. And if I was in the business of reviewing gear, at least I'd pause and ask about the reasons behind the negative feedback instead of joining a board to get defensive over things considered "ridiculous" to begin with. Makes no damn sense to me. I'll tell you why I don't like your reviews. It's not the topics, actually, sometimes you're the only one or the first who covers a particular piece of gear. That's something good. It's not the "polished material", nothing wrong with the way you do it. It's the general disposition. Many times, they come across as arrogant, like you're talking down to people. You could have asked why, again, but you didn't, and in turn only reinforced the impression that originated the comments. That is not good.
