Re: hmmm what attenuator
For a 5 watt amp a simple L pad type would be fine. If you can solder, you could make one for about $15 bucks. Just Google Lpad.

Re: hmmm what attenuator
search on here, I'm pretty sure I saw a one wire mod to use the headphone switch to the speaker.

Re: hmmm what attenuator
I bought a Weber Mini Mass a couple of months ago and I couldn't be happier. If you buy if from Weber there is a wait for them to build it. But I got mine from a dealer on Ebay who keeps them in stock. This is his link:

Re: hmmm what attenuator
Yep. Basically free. Just disconnect the speaker from the internal connection, and solder on a good cable with a 1/4" plug on the end. Then, switch the output to Headphones mode, and stick the plug into the headphone jack until the first click. DO NOT STICK IT ALL THE WAY IN, or else you will get no sound, and possibly fry the output transformer without a load. The Heaphone jack has a 25W power resistor in it that knocks the output way down. You can be bedroom jamming in no time.

My friend has an Aracom: Aracom Amplifiers Crank it up! Power Rox PRX150-Pro Power Attenuator It works really well with his AC-30.
It isn't cheap but it's an outstanding attenuator. That or a Weber Mass would be what I would consider.

Re: hmmm what attenuator
I've not tried it, but heard good/great things about the Swart Night Light. I plan on getting one myself. They run around two hundred dollars, but it's made by Swart. That's pretty much a guarantee that it is a great product.
