Appreciation Thread Appreciation
Do you appreciate appreciation threads? If so, post here! Personally, I hate em. People only appreciate what they own. If they didn't personally own one, they wouldn't appreciate it. So, it's not really about the object that they appreciate but appreciate the fact that they own one and are therefore somehow special.
What do you think? Do you appreciate my non-appreciation of appreciation threads? Or do you appreciate the appreciation of the appreciation threads? I'd appreciate your input. Appreciably yours... Me |

Re: Appreciation Thread Appreciation
They are a great way to get allot of people to chime in on a particular amp. It opens ip allot of eyes to new tones. No problem with them here.
You're mean one mr grinch...

Re: Appreciation Thread Appreciation
I appreciate the fact that you don't appreciate appreciation threads, but I actually appreciate appreciation threads. Admittedly, a lack of appreciation for appreciation threads does not indicate a lack of appreciation for the topic being appreciated. However, it may be the case that people who do not appreciate a given topic may or may not initiate an appreciation thread just to demonstrate their objectivity. And conversely, there are those who will not initiate an appreciation thread despite the fact that the appreciate the subject matter for the appreciation thread that never was. Although I've posted in your appreciation thread, I am not voicing my appreciation or my lack of appreciation.

Re: Appreciation Thread Appreciation
I have to go somewhere to be appreciated...so I come to MLP. Appreciate on, or don't, it's all good, and appreciated.

Re: Appreciation Thread Appreciation
Didn't you just start a thread about this in the Backstage the other day?
Am I the only one who finds "Show us your...." threads annoying? In response to both posts: I personally like seeing other folks gear. I find it interesting to see what people are using. |

Re: Appreciation Thread Appreciation
You have to understand the purpose of (at least some of) them. Sure, people only appreciate what they own, I won't disagree there, but some people want to find out who else has had good, perhaps raving, experiences with certain gear, and often you find they've tweaked them, and done cool things to them that you yourself might like to try. If you have an issue with the titles, fine. You see the same thing in all the 'fan club' threads. Same idea, different name.
I started the Silverface Appreciation thread mainly because they get so much bad press on "the internets", and I love them. That thread was a place for like-minded individuals to get together. Just like MLP, but on a smaller scale. This place, after all, is one giant 'Les Paul Appreciation' community, like it or not.

Re: Appreciation Thread Appreciation
I started a Marshall appreciation thread. I don't own any, and I won't for sometime. Your basis for not liking appreciation threads is silly, man. I like lots of things I don't own, and there are plenty others who would say the same.

I'd happily chip in for a tweed Deluxe appreciation thread, and I've never owned one. But I've played them and they're unreal. I appreciates 'em like I appreciates other things I don't 'own'.
