feedback

i keep having bad feedback when i turn the distortion up on the pedal.pedals volume is half way and the amp at 3 1/2.starts screaming there.i found facing away from the amp helps but i dont think facing my amp is the main problem.
im about 10ft away by the way.
think some quality new cables will help?

Re: feedback

My tube screamer doesnt feedback too bad, they are really kind of a mellow distortion to my ears, but they add some sparkle.

If you are really pushing the gain on the amp and then slamming it with a lot of distortion on the pedal, your amp has no choice but to howl. Roll off the gain on the distortion pedal or set your amp for clean and try it. A new pedal isnt going to help if your trying to use too much distortion to begin with.

From one guitarist to another there is nothing that sounds worse to me than a guy sitting there getting uncontrolable feedback out of his amp.

Re: feedback

There could be many problems causing this; pickups and the pedal. You could try to get a noise gate or suppessor and see if this would solve the problem, if not use your amp high gain channel with a noise gate and lose the pedal. I just just my amp OD channel to get my sounds.

Re: feedback

I play just at the edge of feedback. I like the feedback as long it's controllable.
I play my amp on 8. However, some pickups will feedback at this setting. I found that out doing the sound clips.
