re: Phaez Amps [merged]
Well I am still fighting a bad cold that has kept me from job hunting for a week, but after a long wait the fedex truck arrived and it came......
![]() This pic was taken in the dark, but my SLR camera brighten it up enough that you can see the amp, and the glow of the EL84 tubes. I didn't play it too long, maybe an hour, as loud sounds give me a headache while having this cold. But to get to my point of loud this thing is LOUD! I have tried amps in in the 18 watt range before, but this was is crazy. As you can see on the volume knobs of the amp, I couldn't get it passed 1-2 before it filled the apartment. I tried it both with one of my strats, and my Tokai Les Paul. The blackface side is fantastic, the way the amp responses to light strikes and heavy strikes is magical to say the least, and the harmonic feedback through the vintage 30 speaker is crisp and clear. For an amp that doesn't have reverb it sounds to my ears it makes it's own with the harmonics. Attach a TS9 tube screamer to the blackface and you have SRV right at your fingertips. The Daisy side is mind blowing for rock. Doing a little bit of Voodoo Chile with my strat's single coils was the best thing I have ever heard. It sounds like a hot rodded Marshall halfstack, and makes those single coils scream. But you put a Les Paul into the daisy.....wow watch the picture frame to fall off your wall. Even with the gain at a 2 o'clock measure the sustain goes on forever. Tapping, though I am not very good at it, is very easily done. Cut back the treble you get a huge punch in the mid range. Turn it up you have soloing going on. There is no doubt that if I ever took to the stage in my life this little amp could do it, but part of me never wants to risk someone stealing it. Somehow I feel this won't be the last Black Daisy made as Randy's design is out of this world, and for only $820 for the head it's a steal. The other amp I have that's close in price is the Egnater Rebel 30 ($930), and even though the BlackDaisy doesn't have reverb or a footswitch, I say the Black Daisy beats it out. The cab is great and as you can see in the pic, the plexi glass really makes it pop. I have to say the wait was well worth it, and being the owner of serial # 00001 Phaez amp BlackDaisy amp head is a privilege. Anyone considering getting a black daisy or any other model from Randy Fey, do it before this guy becomes a massive corporation and starts to raise his prices But in all seriousness, it was worth it, and I am one happy customer. |

Looks like one of the early Brown Face models. Highly collectible with true PTP wiring.

re: Phaez Amps [merged]
it a 6v6 based; ~15 watt; tweed based lil tone monster... the tone knob is bypassed at 12 o'clock turned to the left it darkens the sound and to the right it adds more high end, the master is bypassable, and the bass cut is to keep the lows from farting out when the amp is dimed... I can't wait til she gets here... I am in the process of getting my 2x10 weber loaded cab and the head cab!

re: Phaez Amps [merged]
Instead, go to GC. They have some quality stuff there, and a staff that really knows amps.

re: Phaez Amps [merged]
Because it doesn't have a famous name on it. My Phaze will destroy anything "new". I played a lot of amps before I got mine, and I can tell you there is no comparison.

Looks like mine will be in my hands soon! Randy sent me a pic today with the amp/head cab fully assembled. The black/wheat will match my speaker cab nicely
