It acts as kind of a channel lock. So, instead of having to use the typical Allen wrench things, that is actually a lever that locks all the string at the nut with the flick of that one lever. You'll notice a little thumb screw on the other side of the nut, that adjusts the amount of tension that the lever applies to the locking nut, again the same basic concept of channel locks. Such a great little invention. No tools needed at all to lock and unlock the locking nut. Works perfectly. I took it out for a test spin tonight and it worked flawlessly. Such a cool little axe.
