Les Paul punk rockers!

Les Pauls are associated with all kinds of generes but i really feel of them all, punk rock may be the most defined or heavily influenced by the LP sound. Theyre everywhere! So for you punk rockers out there lets list some of your gibson toting heroes, pics with pauls or other fun associated memories.

Kerry Martinez of the U.S Bombs

Kerry Martinez on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

played an 80s studio for years, moved over to Sparrow Guitars now.

Can't forget Lars Frederiksen- still rockin the Epiphones!

but my favourite guitarist of all time would be Chuck Briggs of the Dischords/ U.S. Bombs

The Les Paul custom he played belonged to his girlfriend, who still has it. I'd give my left nut for that guitar!

I was going to post Ernie but I wasn't sure anyone here heard of Token Entry or Black Train Jack.

He came into my job for an interview a couple of years ago and I got to talk with him for a little while about TE/BTJ and the good old days of NYHC. Really nice guy with a love for Lesters.

That's really awesome. He's one of my favorite musicians, he can do everything. Playing drums, guitar, singing, and he's great at all of them. Not to mention he's an awesome songwriter. Token Entry and Grey Area are two of my favorite bands.
I grew up in NJ and got into hardcore and punk through skateboarding. I didn't get into it until the mid to late 90's when I was about 14, but Murphy's Law was my first real show, so that was quite a welcome into the scene.

My first show was Murphy's Law too. I'm dating myself here, but it was 10/31/1987

Re: Les Paul punk rockers!

Let me please interject here: Bowling for Soup and Green Day ARE NOT PUNK! IN JOHNNY LYDON'S NAME PLEASE DO NOT SAY THEY ARE PUNK!!!!!!!! Sadly I saw bowling for soup play BEFORE Hillary Duff when we took our Kids to the Disney Channel Concert.. WTF! And that dude all he did was sling his guitar around his tubby body.. not overly impressive.

Mike Ness is one of the reasons I've loved Goldtops..

Also I believe Ian Mackay (Sp? Fugazi and Minor Threat) played an LP at times

Re: Les Paul punk rockers!

Not an argument over whose idea of punk is right or wrong guys.. Keep the bashing to a minimum...green day (although i personally have zero love for them now) used to tear it up in the old lookout records days back when had to order cds from the inserts in alternative press. Keep it real here for every us bombs fan theres a green day fan to counteract. Besides if you count greenday out out have to count stiff little fingers out too and i wont let that happen.
