In the same way that all kids are cute.

Again, see lots of nice tops. But only 2.5 monsters, IMO.

Re: The Official "Monster Top Monday" thread

I was under the impression that 'monster tops' were the ultra-huge, wavy/ribboned velvet looking flame tops that seemed to a few inches deep or so. The supermodels of flame tops, so to speak. Aside from the first post, I don't see any others…or has the definition changed? Nice guitars and all, but I thought this was supposed to be for the elite.

Urban Dictionary: monster top

We've only got six days to figure this out before the next Monster Top Monday.

I have been really wanting to take some better pictures of this one and post a NGD on it. It's one of the few I have/had that I would consider "buckwild worthy". You set the bar high brother.

The weather is breaking, and my divorce is close to being final......both of the aforementioned have sucked for the last few months.

I will take some better photo's and post them in the next few weeks....maybe a NPDGD...."post divorce".

Great thread Joe!

I started one, Lets get a consensus

Here is what I can submit, but I prefer it be a group effort with everyone's input.

Cool Idea!

The maple "Cap" of a Les Paul, Historic Reissue, Electric Guitar, issued by the Gibson Guitar Company between the years of *1997-2014* that boasts a wild Flame like Figuring of the wood. It can be combined with the grain and be enhanced with the different techniques of painting and finishing. Flame patterns have different types, Ribbon, Curl, Fiddle back and others. the idea of slicing through a piece of wood and matching the ends to form a symmetrical pattern is not a new one. It was used in instrument and furniture for centuries. Other guitar companies have also used the ornamental technique to enhance the art. The term Monster Top refers to a work that is stunning to look at. It is Chatoyant, meaning it is 3D with much depth and appears to move against a moving light source.
