35th Anniversary Les Paul Custom

Hi,

I'm new to the forums and was just wondering if anyone has seen a 35th anniversary Les Paul Custom. I might be getting one soon and just wanted to see what everyone thought about them. I haven't had to luxury of playing the guitar yet, but I imagine it plays and sounds amazing. I also wanted to find out more about the guitar, I haven't had much luck finding information online.

I know they were produced in 1989 to commemorate 35 years for the Les Paul Custom model, but that's about it. Also if anyone knows the current value of one of these guitars, that would be great.

Here's a couple of pictures of one,

Cheers

Cool Re: 35th Anniversary Les Paul Custom

I can answer your questions because I own one. Bought her new in 1989 in San Francisco. The guitar has never left the house and has never been gigged with. I play her a few hours a year. She plays like a dream and has a sweet singing mid-range quality. The only downside is that she's pretty heavy and hurts my back if I play standing up for more than a few hours! She gets handed down to posterity! I'm not sure as to the current value-maybe $2500 low-$4000 high?
I've only seen one for sale and it was in 8.5 out of 10 condition- lots of dings and buckle rash-it was obviously used on many gigs. Going price was $2000 back in the mid 90's.
I have pics in my gallery-but they aren't great! Hope this helps!
Adios amigo!

Hi There; I bought one of these ladies a few years back for $4799 Aud. My first offer was $3750 through E-bay, which was very quickly rejected. But after a lot of to and froing - I ended up buying it directly from the shop, as part of the deal they paid the freight.
I was very fortuneate, it was 22 years old and on consignment in a Sydney music shop. I bought this guitar sight un-seen, as I live in Perth on the other side of Aus; it still had the plastic on the fretboard. It had been played very little - if at all, and was in prestine condition. I'd say if you have the money, go ahead and get one, very playable, and with that unmistakable Gibson tone that every body loves. Its a very nice guitar that complements my collection of 18 which include 3 Strats, 1 Teli, 1 Gibson 1978 ES175D, 1 Gibson Marauder 1976; and a swag of others.

Many feel of the 'boat anchor' variety. Which may provide great tone but can be hard on the shoulder.

I wonder if it's still for sale seven years later?

Re: 35th Anniversary Les Paul Custom

Rusty, would that be the late late Tim Shaws, the ones without stamps? Or was there something after those that showed up before the circuit board pups?
