On tour with Joe Bonamassa at the moment.

Edit: Here's a video of the original Skinner Burst played by JB: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=turUXRC1ZYM

re: CC Skinner Burst Prototype

O.K....cat's out of the bag. That is why I sold my 14 Lemon....this is the one I have been waiting on. Though it is not going to be a CC, it is going to be an artist run. Signed/aged, Aged, and VOS. Don't know the MAP or production numbers other than I believe 50 of the signed/aged, but it should be out in the next few weeks.

Thank you! If it's anything close to the prototype in this vid, I'll be very happy. I'm 99.9% sure I'll be getting the aged/signed unless MAP/price is TOTALLY insane.

Dealers still don't have the info, and a little birdie told me the signed one's still aren't signed or completed yet. So I might be in for another month or so of waiting. Ughh!

Other than a wild ass guess.....no. If I HAD to guess on MAP?

VOS: $7999

AGED: $9999

AGED/SIGNED: $11,999

That is nothing more than a guess. No basis whatsoever.

I don't think there will be an aged/signed version of this guitar.. It is a CC not a signature series

It is not a CC. It is an artist run, and there will be 50 aged/signed. I have confirmation on this from someone very directly involved.

I feel the same. The guy in the video clearly says it's a prototype for a CC called the "Skinner Burst".

Seems weird for a artist run but if freebyrd 69 says it's going to be a artist run I believe it since he knows his stuff.

have no doubt about that, just the other artist runs typically have more 'history' with the artist.

im glad they are doing a run, whatever they want to call it. the original has my sort of top!

I heard that too. He also says it's been "Murphy'd", which is also a gaff. Murphy didn't age these, it was (is) in house.

Everything "Bonamassa" has done very well for Gibson. Up to this point, they (the custom shop) have really only done one Joe sig guitar, that being the run of 250 gold tops, with all but 50 having been aged. They did very well, and that was based off a guitar that he had when he was a kid and was long gone.

Wildwood has what seems to be a limitless run of goldtops and tobacco's with serial number "Joe B xxx". But those aren't really marketed as artist runs because again, there is no "original" that they based it on. Same with the U.S.A. Standards that came out.

I personally think it's a great idea. I know some can give or take Joe, but he has most definitely earned it, and with the CC line being beat to death, this was a really great move, IMO. He is current, has a pretty big fan base that's growing every day, and he is about the only one I know who you can go see in concert playing these vintage pieces. At least the number of them that you see in one of his shows. Also, look at his fan base....mostly 30-50+ yr. old guys with at least some degree of disposable income, who can probably afford one of these if they want one.

I'm not afraid to admit, I'm a huge fan. I discovered him back in 2002, and have followed him since. I have been lucky enough to meet Joe on several occasions, and I own one of those WW tobacco's that he also owned at one point. He is a humble guy....a gear head for sure.

This is a great example of a burst, and I think it will do better being an artist run than a CC. Hell, we here on the forum have a hard time keeping track of these CC's they are coming out so quick.

I also think it is a great thing that they didn't make #3 an artist run (sorry, I can't stand bigsby's) even though he owns it. They saved it for a guitar that is way cool, and played frequently by the artist. I can't wait to get my hands on mine!!

jlb....thanks for the faith. You can bank on it. Not that Joe's tech is a slouch, but let's just say my sources regarding this guitar are about as credible as you could possibly ask for.
