Re: Dating an R9 from a serial number

Remember that 2002 was a short year for R9's...I don't remember how many but its not over 1000.

That is most likely a 2012, Whats the COA look like, and which case did it come with?

Pics MAN Pics!!!!

the breakdown is 9 (R9) 2 is the last year of that decade. 2002 2012; 1197 The number of R9's produced. If the COA is a Black or Brown colored book (leatherette) then its a 2012, possibly a brown style lifton case. the switched COA's in 08 or so....

Re: Dating an R9 from a serial number

2012

2002 was a short year..SCT is correct..only around 600 made that year..2003 saw BRW until May.

OP 1197 would put manufacture date in late July/August I would guestimate for a 2012. Its the 1197th of that run..and I am pretty sure around 1600 R9s were made last year..in line with R8 production numbers.

Pics will confirm..but based on serial..if its from gibson..its a 2012.
