Forum member Floyd84 has a 1952 Les Paul.

He'd post pics I'm sure, but he's at the Philly show right now.

Bought a 1936 Les Paul in a natural finish off of ebay last week. Have a genuine hand written COA. Didn't come with case though.

Since the P-90 wasn't invented untill 1946, the '36 must have DeMarzios'.

Re: Who has the oldest les paul here ??

At the risk of stating the obvious, the oldest Gibsons are over in the Vintage forum. And I doubt there's anything older than what's already been posted, especially since you're asking about Les Pauls. But it can't hurt to ask.

I've got a 1960 Melody Maker (arguably a Les Paul), a mid-'60s Hofner, and a '65 Guild. A friend of mine has a pre-war Martin, but that's hardly a Gibson or a Les Paul, is it?

Ask Thermionik about his old Les Paul. It's far from the oldest, but it's the coolest old Les Paul around these parts, IMO.

Re: Who has the oldest les paul here ??

I have a Les Paul that was unearthed from a Mayan tomb.

Left behind by an alien visitor.

As you know, there's a Les Paul that's part of the famous Nazca Lines in southern Peru, and legend has it that several of the ceramic statues unearthed in China near the first emperor's tomb had Les Pauls in their hands and indications of KISS-like makeup. These are, of course, fake Les Pauls, but are far better built than current models. All have...uh...ceramic pickups.

The oldest LPs are the '52s, with the unbound necks and no serial numbers. But, good luck figuring out which one was the first one off the assembly line?

The 1936 LP did have EMGs. It was part of Einstein's work and was very top secret as it was part of the war effort.

That stuff about the modeling amp is absurd though.

I've got one, it has 7652 different amp.models and 988 different in built effects. It's particularly good for trad jazz and Charleston tone!

Bigsby'd; the one with the bigsby is the best looking Les Paul I've seen on here --- what is the story with the red bigsby ?? It looks very cool.

Back then they still used proper English and were referred to as "The Marzio's"
