This October a new Rocksmith is being released! New features and new songs. The new Session mode looks interesting. Here's a couple of vids to whet your appetite!

I hope it will be backwards compatible with the DLC for the original game.

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

If Page would license the Zep catalog to Rocksmith a whole new generation of young guitarists could be weened on the classics. I doubt that Rocksmith could afford the licensing fees and I doubt Page would want to whore out the Zeppelin catalog to a video game company.

They could probably get Ozzy's catalog. Sharon will do anything for a buck. Two bucks and she'll use her mouth.

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

I found that I didn't really learn the songs so didn't memorise the phrases as I would with Tab but just kind of jammed along with whatever was popping up onscreen.

then they threw master mode at me and I had to go away and check out the tabs so I could play them again...crafty buggers...also if I ever have to play 'Rebel rebel' again i'm going to hurt someone what a boring ass song to play

Page has a bit of class (P Diddy collaborations aside). As well, rock radio already played Zep to death. It would be nice to see some Classic Rock retain an aura of mystery, instead of ending up as the damn soundtrack to a video game or movie.

Yes, I am modding still.

Yeah, the CD key thing was a fiasco. Everyone that tried (yeah, it took a lot of effort which sucked) did get their key. Bad deal, but probably not UBI's fault, but rather the packaging company. Still was UBI's responsibility in the end, and looked really bad on them.

Bad audio syncing comes from extra processing of the audio signal.

This can happen by trying to use digital audio from the console, or be introduced by the play-back system.

Use analog audio from the console. Digital can work, but if one is having trouble, then analog is the way to go.

Turn off any surround sound and/or other processing on the play-back system. Be it a TV, home theater system, or whatever.

It should be that simple.

Edit:

+1 on the below statement to not use the audio from the HDMI cable. Maybe someone has it working, but it is not recommended.

If you use the HDMI video output to your TV, turn off the sound at the TV, and take the OPTICAL audio out of your PS3 to a surround sound receiver. Use the surround sound receiver ONLY as your playback sound source and you should be in sync. The HDMI sound signal to your TV is what has the lag.

Works pretty much the same way for the X-box version (I have both).

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

I thought the original game was ok, though like TOMMYTHUNDERS I just can't learn songs efficiently through the game, just used to tabs and backing tracks I suppose. I always sensed a tiny bit of latency, I am quite computer savy and while I was able to improve it, it seems to be software related.

However, the cable is great with Guitar Rig, I have a great set-up with a laptop and a strat, a really great mobile recording station. In addition, I sense virtually zero latency.

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

Reposted here, to be in the "correct" forum.

The folks at Rocksmith sent me an early copy of the game, with some nice swag. This is the first time I've ever been a part of something like this, and it was unexpected, but very welcomed. All kinds of EB swag!

I got to play the game a little last night, and it has really changed.

The first song I wanted to learn was Alice Cooper - No More Mr. Nice Guy, and I was not disappointed. I am not allowed to do a review or screen shot until it is officially released, but I can say the new Riff Repeater is completely awesome!

So much has changed, it took me a while to get oriented. Tons of new features. I couldn't even get started looking at them all last night. I am back at the office today, but I bet I hit the door runnin' at quittin' time.

I took October 22nd off from work the day they set the release date. I've been playing Rocksmith since day 1.

I don't remember where I originally heard about Rocksmith, but it very well could have been your thread.

It is amazing how many people (especially guitar players) who have still never heard of it.

It also gets a bit of a negative perception as somehow being "fake" guitar playing. Then I show them the wide array of songs I learned from the game and can play easily without the game and *flex*

I'm so stoked for Tuesday.

One thing I've been wondering is if I should flip the strings around this time. I left it default on Rocksmith 1, but I think I might try inverting it to be more like tab for RS2014

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

Rcole,

Thanks for posting the track listing. Session mode and riff repeater are enough of a reason to buy this for me.

Nice deal on the pre-release and all the swag. Of course, they know how to leverage influencers and get the appropriate amount of publicity. Your word is good enough for me !

Exactly my thinking!

I have them flipped (to match tab) on the original Rocksmith.

I wanted to start fresh with RS 2014, so tried last night without the strings flipped. It was tough, and had me hitting the wrong strings many times. But I am going to stick with it a little longer.

HA, I don't get why though? I always felt like I was missing out using the default..wouldn't you want to practice tab and Rocksmith at the same time? That was my thinking.

The original way is sorta useless outside RS so I was thinking I should switch haha

Yes, and so much more. For example, on the fly Riff Repeater, which surprised me at how useful it immediately became.

Riff Repeater is way improved.

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

I'm holding out to see some post-release videos, and see just how much Riff Repeater has improved. I want manual speed settings, and to being able to set sections on loop. Playing it right once doesn't mean that I'm done.

Session mode looks interesting, but I want to check some videos on how, and how well, that really works as well.

I never got used to the note presentation in the first game. But I did love the Guitarcade games. I had the top score in Scale Runner (though I've since been displaced by a few spots, and they made it too difficult to keep track of scores since). I still occasionally put it on Dawn of the Chordead, but that's about all I use it for now.

I didn't spent much time learning songs, since I usually play late at night so I can't really turn the TV up loud enough to enjoy it - I typically practice with headphones. So they're going to need some serious improvements to get me to drop another $60.
