buying new in Germany means spending approx. 2,300 GBP. Now it's on you to calculate. I'd go shopping in person and talk down the seller a bit on the one axe I really love when having it in my own hands or buy used on the internet with a reasonable discount

Yeah, ive managed to knock him down to 1950, but reckon i might be able to get it to 1900, seeing as thats all i can afford they are a bit far for me to travel to thats the only thing, so well see... watch this space

Thanks

Re: Gibson R0 1960 Les Paul - Worth it?

First of all, it's a G0, isn't it? R0 is flamed.
For an used one, even 1900 GBP is a high price. I'd say 1700GBP maximally. But just keep saving and get a real R0, not used. It's worth it!

I agree.

Narrow down what exactly you want. R0, flame/plain top, cherry/dark back, etc, once you've done that it makes the search much easier. Set your price, the most you will spend and start looking. Check the vendors on this site, I think most will ship overseas, ebay and anywhere else you can. Be patient and diligent and it will pay off in the end.

Good hunting.

I like the R0 in your thread but I don't really know what a fair price is over there. Before you jump in check out Eddies, Dave's Guitar Shop, Marks Guitar Loft, Route 66, etc.

It's not a G0. Check out the serial number (Should be G0 xxxx for a G0). But G0's are essentially plain top R0's with a few different quirks to them (see G0 thread). They do make plain top R0's

If I was after an R0 in the UK at the moment I would bite this guys hand off at the price he's at, but I'm not put off by it being less than mint condition.

Re: Gibson R0 1960 Les Paul - Worth it?

Are there? I thought they were only flamed. Then, 1900GBP seems to be a good price. I bought mine for 3400 euros, it was on sale from 3960. But it was new, not used. I haven't watched the market on eBay, maybe that's why I know less about the prices.

I've owned 2 ROs. A goldtop and now a blacktop. No flame there ( that I know of)

I got my CS LP Custom 68RI from America, brand new for less than that.

08 Ice Tea, 09 Tobacco, both R0's, both PT's.

black back, &, dark back.

Neither are worth what a flamed R0 is worth.
But, great guitars none the less.

Re: Gibson R0 1960 Les Paul - Worth it?

I wouldn't go more than 1400GBP on this guitar.

A flamed 2001 R8 sold a month ago for 1400GBP on the bay (co.uk).

A VERY ( and I mean VERY VERY nice ) flamed R0 sold for 2600GBP 2 months ago (I kind of regret I didn't buy it ) (again on ebay UK)

Ok, that's a dealer... but the street price is WAY below 2kGBP

yes, most dealers send to the EU, but transport costs, fees and taxes add approx. 35% to the selling price. It's better to wait for a used one to pop up in the EU or buy new from a Gibson dealer
