Re: Tell me about that guitar

dude ,this might either be one of two things:

*An exclusive import only for the Asian market
*or a--gulp-- a fake--I'm sure others will say something more about it--where did you get this from and how much did you pay for it?

Re: Tell me about that guitar

well, I am compelled to say it might be an Asian exclusive, never seen anything like that before--but hey, if it plays/sounds well, then more power to ya, bro'!!

Re: Tell me about that guitar

Yeah, if it's not fake, it's likely an early 90's Epi. IIRC, they did have the open book-style headstock in the first couple years, and pickguard screw really close to the edge (used to think that was a dead giveaway - usually is).

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in here.

Trussrod cover plate bolts are pushed in(on fake Epi`s they are inlayed on plate) Epiphone logo is correct.

Re: Tell me about that guitar

Is it just me or does the headstock look a little..."wonky"? I mean, those tuning pegs are all over the place on that thing...
and looking at the block inlay below the HS, it doesn't look as wide as it should be. I'm gonna say this one is probably a fake.

Re: Tell me about that guitar

Can you post a side-on pic of where the headstock meets the nut/first fret? (Preferably the side with the dot fret marker.)

Cheers.

Yeah, I think it's fake. The headstock binding comes up farther than it should.

First thing I thought of was that was a MIJ Epiphone because those are the only ones I've seen with a Gibson style open-book headstock

Yup!

...But, at least it doesn't say "Gibson" on the headstock?

Re: Tell me about that guitar

if it plays good, and sounds good, who gives a **** if it's fake...

but yea, look at the 2nd pic in the first post... the neck volume/tone knobs don't line up with the pickguard screw... that was the first thing I started looking for for fakes...

Not the best place to start if a (genuine) guitar is Korean.

Re: Tell me about that guitar

I will say one thing it's a shame it isn't.....from the face it looks like a great looking guitar. I would almost say it could have been a neck break and fix......but I'm just not seeing that either.

OP if you come back soon can you take the pups out and get some pics as well as the wiring? And like I said before where was it bought from......I'm curious about something.
