Peavey T-60 in a pawn shop. Worth $300?

Found a Peavey T-60 in a pawn shop today for $300. It is a natural ash finish though. Is it worth it without the case? 1-10 I give it a 9 in condition.
Found this one on Ebay but the color is wrong, maybe.

ca 1980 Peavey T-60 Sunburst with Rosewood board USA w/case | eBay

I had one years ago- good player. Don't know what they're worth now but check the frets for wear and the neck for straightness. If you like it -go for it.

You're on a Les Paul forum. T-60's are only heavy over on the Strat forums!

No, no, hell no.

The 80's are not "vintage". At least not in a good way.

Most of that stuff is crap.

Peavey is solid but cheap.
90% of the stuff coming out of S. Korea these days is miles better.

Re: Peavey T-60 in a pawn shop. Worth $300?

I'm going back tomorrow and take a better look at it. My nephew pulled it off the wall and was looking at it. I looked at it briefly and not being into Peavy's paid it no nevermind. Then I looked on Ebay and saw what they were going for. Some are asking 400 or 500 bucks for the natural ash.

Re: Peavey T-60 in a pawn shop. Worth $300?

I've never played a Peavey guitar that I didnt like, their guitars don't often get the respect they deserve, probably because they're an amp company. That said, I don't like the looks of the T-60 myself, but if you dig it, go for it.

Where to start? I'll respond to each of your points one at a time
- You're wrong
- You're partly wrong (1980, 81 are "vintage", by definition)
- You're wrong
- You're right (if by "cheap", you mean "inexpensive")
- You're wrong

Probably a good deal for the price but I wouldn't expect it to appreciate in value too much.

I'll bet. I am going to play it and see. They have an FM 25R there. The electronics and wiring look very professional from the photo's I have seen. Great shielding too.

A LOT of options in that toggle switch Mulie. I had one just like it in '91 but the weight was my issue. Personally I don't know what one would price at these days so just trust YOUR judgement and check it out real good. Good luck.

Re: Peavey T-60 in a pawn shop. Worth $300?

I would buy it if it was in good shape. $300 is a good price. They are a lot of fun. $300 is actually a little low.

I sold those guitars in the early 80's. I actually have a T-15 with the chainsaw case and a Backstage 30 that I play when I want to go back in time to 1981. The T-15 has the Ferrite P90'ish pickups. I got the amp and then the guitar off craigslist.

1981.....ala craigslist.......

Now I really can't wait to try it. Again that thing has been up in that shop in a back room amongst the Affinity's and such for at least 4 months. My nephew just happened to take it down and look at it.

Try to play with it through something to get an idea of the options available if at all possible. I think that you're in for a big surprise with the T-60. Workout real good so you'll have a good muscle built up.LOL

When I was in high school, a band came through and played an assembly for us ... "Tom Sawyer", "Blackout", "Hold On Loosely", "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"; the lead guitarist used one of those through a Marshall half. It had a good, ripping sound that covered a lot of bases sonically.

If:
-it's in good shape
-it works
-you like playing it
-you like the sound
-you have $300 to spend on a guitar

Then I'd say it's a great deal--I'd go for it...

The pick ups are worth $300 with the wiring harness. The rest of the guitar is worth nothing to be honest.
The collectable ones are the solid colors like black or blue.
Great tones with the reverse and out of phase options.Cool thing you can open the vol control and you get a single coil sound roll it back you go into humbucker mode.
Country players love these pick ups in the neck of a tele.

HaHa! Does the one in that eBay ad "come with everything you see here" in the photos?

I don't know if the blue-haired chick is a help or a hindrance. Of course, if you're bidding after a few beers...

I have a brother who is owned several Peaveys. T-60, 15, 25. Peaveys are a good deal for the money and if they are asking $300 you could probably get it for at least $250.
