Exclamation Gibson website down?

Update 2: Gibson.com seems to be back online since around 4 AM EST today (04/24). No official announcement from Gibson as to what happened yet.

Update 1: The reason Gibson.com has been offline for 3 days so far, is because they are hosted with Amazon.com Web Services (AWS), which is currently suffering network latency and connectivity errors that started in the morning of April 21st. More specifically, Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) service and its Relational Database Service are down.

There were a few brief outages in the past, but this is probably the first time AWS was down for the longest. Too bad Gibson.com, as well as other big sites, are suffering some serious downtime, not to mention potential customers as well.

Here's an article by CNN re: the major outage: http://money.cnn.com/2011/04/21/tech...tage/index.htm

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Just tried to go get some info and I can't access it. Anybody else able to get on or is it down?

Only luddites try to access website from computers these days. Anyone with a clue uses their Fireturd to access the web. Just ask Henry.

Re: Gibson website down?

At what time did you try to open it? It's clearly stated in the terms of use that the site only works from 13:00 to 14:30 and the forum from 20:00 to 23:57

If you are one of those guys that just can't follow instructions/directions and has to do it his way, then you are not welcome in GibsonLand.

They hooked up the Firebird X for an update and crashed their whole system.

Re: Gibson website down?

Look at the address it redirects you to, maybe someone pulled a Dallas Cowboys and forgot to renew the site name. Or maybe they are updating their product line and giving us a nice surprise of new instruments.

Re: Gibson website down?

Everytime I go to Gibson by putting in 'Gibson.com' it takes forever. However when I put in 'www.gibson.com' it seems to load fine, maybe try that and see if it works

Nope, not working.

Their site was terribly slow so hopefully they are making improvements to speed it up.

Either that or Henry got so sick of the **** he was taking in that forum of his that he just decided to shut their entire web presence down.

It's the bluetooth that has a cavity!

Amazing, technology breaks down? Imagine that happening during a gig with their new computer based guitars. Sweet, somebody should tell Henry to stop living in the clouds!

Re: Gibson website down?

Henry picked up a virus on his Firebird X then contaminated the server via Bluetooth.

Check the Joe Bonamassa site; it says Gibson was shut down by the FBI for importing rosewood illegally.

Yep. It's down for me. I'm on the west coast here.

Maybe we can pull up cached pages and place our order when the prices were cheaper.

Re: Gibson website down?

Maybe the Gibson website got so tired of having the photo of the Fireturd front and centre for so long that it up and committed suicide.

Why would they shut down a website for illegal importation of a wood? Plenty of companies have done far worse and haven't had their websites shut down.

Re: Gibson website down?

This is a new low for Henry and Co, specially after having a similar problem not that long ago. Maybe this is part of the same problem, but it feels like a separate incident.

Not only apathy and disregard but the public's opinion, but now disregard for the law too. Henry is not God, and it's time for him to look in a mirror and realize he's a mortal like the rest of us.

He should just go and fade away.
