Sunday Thoughts...

As I finally had a few minutes to clean my "area", I realized that I will never have enough time to play my instruments as the they are intended. I have forgot more than I will ever know again, and will never have time to dedicate "the time" I know is needed to become the player I envision.

An almost overwhelming relief came over me when I thought of selling all of the amps and guitars. This would allow for the following:

-Funding for the wife for remodeling of the kitchen & Bathroom without dipping into savings.
-Giving the kids a downstairs play area for their toys and such, or a small sitting nook.
- No Instrument upkeep (humidification & tubes & such).

The most I will need to satisfy my meager guitar needs will be a Squire (I will opt for the Jazzmaster I suppose) and a small practice amp tucked in back of a closet with a small crate to sit on and play if and when time permits. I will keep the kids Rogue acoustic for my needs in the unplugged realm.

I think this is founded in common sense and logic. Seems all to easy and good for the many.

Common sense and logic have no role to play in the establishment and maintenance of a musical instrument collection...!

Making decisions for the good of the many is laudable, but not if it is at the expense of your own identity. If you give too much away of what is important to you, you end up being surrounded by only the unimportant.

Cheers

I can relate to that although the bathroom & kitchen renovations came out of our savings.
The Squier VM Jazzmaster is very good, I love mine.

I have also decided to get a cheapie classical. But that's all I'll need. And this lamp, a Squire Jazz master, a small amp, Rogue acoustic and a cheap classical, and that's it.

And this paddle ball game, and that's it..

Re: Sunday Thoughts...

Do you want to play music or have an instrument collection?

You can easily do one and not the other.

...not that there's anything wrong with doing both.

But you don't have to be a collector to be a player.

Re: Sunday Thoughts...

If I was forced to have one guitar, and it was a Ramirez classical I could be happy.
