Don't sell. Put it in the case for a while and play something that suits your current musical taste a little better. You'll know exactly why not selling it was the right call when you pull it out of the case after a while.
It probably will be put into the case for awhile after I sell my Ibanez to get this Charvel.

The only problem with your guitar is that it is not a GoldTop!

Re: Growing apart from my les paul

What kind of music are you gravitating towards these days that the p90's are an issue?

I love a good p90, but they aren't the perfect pickup for every application.

Having an idea of where they aren't delivering would help generate some useful ideas. For instance, if you want hum free hard rocking sounds you might get a set of p90 sized super distortions and throw them in there for a change of pace.

Assuming the guitar itself isn't the issue, I would keep it and just use it as a building platform to get what you want assuming the changes aren't so drastic a different guitar would come out cheaper and more practical.

I bought a 2008 Les Paul Standard in January 2014. It had a really nice flame to the top. It was subtle, but not overly so. I had no issues with the asymmetric neck, and the neutrik jack was just quirky, but not bad.

I never did "bond" with it. Traded it for a loss exactly a year later on a black 2008 Trad, and haven't looked back since.

It happens.

Re: Growing apart from my les paul

+1 on the don't sell.

My first guitar was a Fender Bullet Deluxe, just like the pic, that I got for Christmas in 1981. I loved that guitar, but I pawned it for $100 in 1988 to buy my girlfriend some Christmas presents. I never got it back out of hock, and she dumped me in January. Regrets...

Don't sell it. But if you need the money to buy another, sell it to a good friend and make him promise he will sell it to you again if you want Or at least let you play it when you miss it.
