Re: Neil Young

He's SO driven towards output that his catalog dwarfs the others (but it's more extreme and hit and miss as well), plus he's always on the road, but the another big reason is he rocks his ass off...

Cool, I'll be checking it out asap, thanx.
Another example of '40s era rockin is The Maddox Brothers And Rose, they had been together since before the war but came on even stronger after it and...

Re: A tribute to the nightclubs of years gone by…

What an iconic place it was, kinda like The Armadillo Headquarters, but different.
It was thanx to Antone's monthly newsletter that info'd me of Lonnie Mack's show dates coming up and dang if I...

Re: Ted Nugent-Shut up & Jam

Yes, I do have my mind made up with decades of observation behind it. I love a lot about the guy, and hate a few things, and Ted couldn't care less about either.
He kills excessively, doesn't need...

Re: Ted Nugent-Shut up & Jam

He vehemently denies everything he used to say about avoiding the draft now that he's got political diarrhea, but beyond the total BS of Nam, Ted was one of millions that were just coming of age at...

Re: A tribute to the nightclubs of years gone by…

Great topic, sounds like an awesome scene in Dallas, wish I could have cloned myself back then and been there too!
In So. Cal the top touring bands usually didn't do the clubs but occasionally it...

Re: Ted Nugent-Shut up & Jam

And it's so bizzare that he's such a great guy to talk to, actually humble and gracious like a mofo when given similar, such a contradiction of personalities.

Re: Ted Nugent-Shut up & Jam

He's a known baiter. Not good.
He kills more than he needs. Also, not so good. The homeless? He'd just as soon use his bow and arrows on them.
He folds when up against any one his equal with...

Re: Ted Nugent-Shut up & Jam

Had to search to know what's up on this http://ultimateclassicrock.com/ted-nugent-shut-up-and-jam-review/ but it sounds like I'll be searching for the music too.

As a bleeding heart lib who...

Re: Roxy Music

My favorite time for Roxy mirrors my increased opinions favoring bands I already loved whenever John Wetton became involved. Roxy may have zenithed musically with his tenure but on stage the band...

Dust - live at Brooklyn Tech, '71
Just an amazing 2 set boot some 'hood kids made of their favorite local band on stage back in the day and damned if it don't memorialize an awesome trio kicking...

Re: Opening bands that blew you away

Captain Beyond, twice at The Hollywood Bowl in '72.
Alice Cooper headlined this infamous nite in their history, with JoJo Gunne and CB opening. Musically Cooper was kinda lame (big disappointment)...

Re: Bands that should have been bigger.

The top four hard rock bands of the classic era that absurdly got left out by the vast majority gotta be Budgie, Captain Beyond, Dust, and TOAD. If not for youtube nearly everybody would still be...

Re: Let's go back to 1972!

In time you found some favor with that sucky tune, so it couldn't have been all that bad. I still find it sucky (and I have reasons to try and like it), but way better than whatever pop radio has...

Re: Let's go back to 1972!

That's actually not fair. Take the crappiest pop of the early '70s and it's better than today's best pop, unless I've missed something. Same with rock. Now, good Rock N Roll (not the same as the wide...

Slade we're the anti everything awesome about that era. They opened for Humble Pie in '72 (Sacramento w/Peter) and what an immeasurable difference between the two. One a joke, the other beyond...

Re: Crate Vintage Club 50 2X12

You're mad and somebody else is happy. Get another with 2x12s (and casters) and you'll be happier than him/her.

Re: Govt Mule &…. Reeves Gabrels!

Well of course, he's 'old', and a smart dog. Thanx for those links, I'll be checking out a few of the great selections that I've missed even tho I'm probably older (and dumber) than Reeves.
