Re: Ted Nugent-Shut up & Jam

He's a known baiter. Not good.
He kills more than he needs. Also, not so good. The homeless? He'd just as soon use his bow and arrows on them.
He folds when up against any one his equal with...

Re: Ted Nugent-Shut up & Jam

Had to search to know what's up on this http://ultimateclassicrock.com/ted-nugent-shut-up-and-jam-review/ but it sounds like I'll be searching for the music too.

As a bleeding heart lib who...

Re: Roxy Music

My favorite time for Roxy mirrors my increased opinions favoring bands I already loved whenever John Wetton became involved. Roxy may have zenithed musically with his tenure but on stage the band...

Dust - live at Brooklyn Tech, '71
Just an amazing 2 set boot some 'hood kids made of their favorite local band on stage back in the day and damned if it don't memorialize an awesome trio kicking...

Re: Opening bands that blew you away

Captain Beyond, twice at The Hollywood Bowl in '72.
Alice Cooper headlined this infamous nite in their history, with JoJo Gunne and CB opening. Musically Cooper was kinda lame (big disappointment)...

Re: Bands that should have been bigger.

The top four hard rock bands of the classic era that absurdly got left out by the vast majority gotta be Budgie, Captain Beyond, Dust, and TOAD. If not for youtube nearly everybody would still be...

Re: Let's go back to 1972!

Add Manfred Mann's insipid version of Blinded By The Light.

Re: Let's go back to 1972!

In time you found some favor with that sucky tune, so it couldn't have been all that bad. I still find it sucky (and I have reasons to try and like it), but way better than whatever pop radio has...

Re: Let's go back to 1972!

That's actually not fair. Take the crappiest pop of the early '70s and it's better than today's best pop, unless I've missed something. Same with rock. Now, good Rock N Roll (not the same as the wide...

Re: Let's go back to 1972!

Slade we're the anti everything awesome about that era. They opened for Humble Pie in '72 (Sacramento w/Peter) and what an immeasurable difference between the two. One a joke, the other beyond...

Re: New Vintage Amp Day - Magnatone 280! Great story...

Sounds like it's not the amp for you, but being a Mag hound I can't help but congratulate you on such a score.

And I'd be real envious if I didn't have my...

Re: Crate Vintage Club 50 2X12

You're mad and somebody else is happy. Get another with 2x12s (and casters) and you'll be happier than him/her.

Re: Govt Mule &. Reeves Gabrels!

Well of course, he's 'old', and a smart dog. Thanx for those links, I'll be checking out a few of the great selections that I've missed even tho I'm probably older (and dumber) than Reeves.

Re: Crate Vintage Club 50 2X12

Even without lowballing him you're set up to get the deal of the month, and it's only Aug. 1st!
I don't have the earlier blond version which are said to have been improved upon with the later black...

Re: The Fender Super Champ X2/XD Official Home Thread

My XD came from ebay with a new cab for a 12" (forgetting the ohm) and am glad I waited to get the extra beef/bottom, not that I go loud much but loving the fullness and depth.

Re: Govt Mule &. Reeves Gabrels!

Gnarly bass and skronkin guitars, just right for some '14 Free.
Cool to hear/see Reeves on his signature Rev., but never expected to see him with da Mule.

Re: What Would Hendrix Look Like Today?

He'd most likely be dead by now even if not in '70, and maybe in a worse way. As much as I hate it I've concluded that his passing when he did was probably best for true fans, family of course...

Re: Black Oak Arkansas.....

That was nearly a legendary venue with a big stage and years of great RnR blasting the walls, a perfect place for BOA. The last show I saw there was Deep Purple w/Rory Gallager and Fleetwood Mac...

At some point didn't Womack have custody of Jimi's famed first guitar, the red-ish Dano/SilverTone?

Only because those were some dizzying heights musically that will live forever, but each band has stayed active and quite credible til today.

Re: Black Oak Arkansas.....

They were great til success came in and guitarist Harvey Jett took off. Some like to slam them for multitudes of reasons but in the early '70s they ruled the cock rock roost and were the best party...
