Macbook Pro with Lion and Guitar port problem Help ....

For some reason I am not getting anything from guitar port. I downloaded all the software and installed. I also downloaded monkey but it shows no midi device selected. WTF and thanks in advance.

Only thing I can see that is wrong is the USB is flashing and it says USB not plugged in. I know it works because I just plugged it into the pc.

DC DOES NOT EQUAL OUTPUT. Dc is a resistance value and that is all. It WILL NOT tell you what it will sound like, it WILL NOT make you sound like another player.

Re: Macbook Pro with Lion and Guitar port problem Help ....

I know on my old MacBook Pro (about 5 years ago), one USB port had more power. I think a lot of computers have lower and higher powered USB ports. Try plugging it into the other port.

I'm not sure what you mean about MIDI. I though that GuitarPort was just for guitar and didn't have any need for MIDI.

Yeah I tried both ports. It shows USB not there. It also comes up no midi device specified in monkey.

Have you setup the hardware in the Audio MIDI Setup utility in your Applications->Utilities folder?

On a MAC you have to run that utility to configure Midi/Audio for any DAW that you are using.

Any FW or USB connection that provides either MIDI or audio I/O. You have to run that utility to make all of the assignments (a'la Default MIDI IN <-- MBOX-01 type mappings).

Is this Lion specific? I don't remember running an OSX utility installing the M audio Profire 2626. Just installed the driver and fired it up.

Re: Macbook Pro with Lion and Guitar port problem Help ....

It's been part of OS X since 10.1 (It was included in the public beta Kodiak 10.0 as well). If you just plugged in and went with it, I suspect there was already a port definition on the system. Or the driver installer updated the config on the fly. But all IO (MIDI/Audio) on OS X has to be defined to the Audio MIDI Setup unless the driver/support app for the interface does it's own thing and bypasses the setup app by using NSAudio/NSMidi directly.

I'm thinking the m audio driver does this upon install.
