Are digital solutions tone worthy yet?
I heard a few clips of a guy playing through TH2. It sounded 100x better than the tones I was getting out of my Line 6 Gearbox software. I mostly play clean with a little OD. Jazz / blues etc. I went on a huge search for tone and ended up with a Ceriatone ODS. Unfortunately I am not playing live and now live in an apartment!
Almost everything I have heard that is digital does not have it right. It usually sounds like too much treble and can not do the organic thing well. I think it working well for some of the shredders but not for my style yet. After playing tube amps it is difficult to play something sounds as sterile and unresponsive as the Line 6 stuff. Has anyone had a similar experience and gone to another solution for digital guitar amp sims and recording? I am pretty much forced to go back to digital since I am in an apartment. So it would be great to find something that did the organic / clean tube amp thing. Advice/suggestions appreciated. |

Re: Are digital solutions tone worthy yet?
Free downloads are your friend, here.
Guitar Rig 4 is getting fairly awesome. Very easy and endlessly tweakable. I like it better than Amplitube 3. The best full, cleaner tones I've heard, though, have come from (don't hurt me) Peavey Revalver MKIII.V. I was not excited about the brand name, but the software is legit. Back to my original point. These all have demo versions that are free to download from the manufacturer sites. Usually the limitations are that it quits after 20 minutes and you can't save anything. But, if you're just messing around at home, you may find that's all you need. Just open it back up and keep jamming. ![]() At least you could hear for yourself and know if it's the sound you're looking for. |

I've never heard the TH2. This does sound pretty good for blues.

I've been having a fun time with Mainstage, it has the Logic amp models, and with some tweaking is quite versatile.
I think amp modeling is getting better and better. Just make sure to get a good digital interface. I was not happy plugging directly into my should input on my computer. |

Re: Are digital solutions tone worthy yet?
What is SoloDallas using? It wont let me look on his site without registering. Pain in the butt. Heard his ACDC vid and it sounded good.
Still I guess I am more interested in an organic clean sound that is digital yet sounds like a cleanish tube amp if that makes sense... |
