Looking to get started with Pro Tools over my Boss Br1200 (which is getting older and having reliability issues of late) I know from the research I've done that Pro Tools has a pretty steep learning curve. Does anyone have any direct experience with the Ignite series books or the Pro Tool course books? I recently picked up an M Box Mobile Pre bundled with Pro Tools MP 9. Will be running on my desktop with an i5 processor, windows 7 HP 64 bit and 8 gb ram.
Looking to grab one of these books this week. If there is something better, can you please share your suggestions?

You can learn a lot with the help menu's reference guide, and you could watch the thousand videos about PT's functionality on Youtube. Also, there's always the good old D.U.C., the digidesign user conference, where you can get help when you get greater problems. Finally, you got... ... us! Welcome aboard the: ![]() |

Re: best book to help get started with pro tools
Pro Tools 101 is just that. It is the first book for the course, everything you need to know to get started in learning Pro Tools is in this book. It's very easy to read and understand, and if you finish it you'll have a leg up in starting the certification courses if that's what you want to do. Because the first course statrs there. BTW, when you finish if you want to learn more, there PT 110, PT 201, PT210, ect... It can get expensive though. I hope this helps.

Re: best book to help get started with pro tools
I prefer online training over reading books. I know some are expensive but www. lynda.com has month to month subscription for only $25 with access to any software learning. I had PT7 training few years back for a month and then I closed the account. Here is what they have for PT9. Lot of good stuff than reading training books. Pro Tools Training & Tutorials

Re: best book to help get started with pro tools
Ignite helped me a bunch when I was moving from DP to PT. There's a lot you can get from the internet but it's great to be able to look things up in a book. I recommend the Ignite books all the time.
