Exclamation Anyone make single coils with a kick ?

I hate the weak sounds of most single coils looking for something nontraditional with some balls. I have used Duncan hotrails in the past but this time I want the traditional single coil look

Re: Anyone make single coils with a kick ?

Flick, talk to Markster - he makes an awesome set of SC's, among the best I've heard, and he'll wind them to your specs, if you want. I just let him choose for me, and my strat sounds wicked good now. I'm not much of a SC player, but when I do, it sounds the way a strat should.

I assume Strat size?

The only hotter Strat size single coils that I liked so far are the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders. Those are great. But they only add kick, they are not "hot" pickups.

I agree.
Had a set of Quarter Pounder's fitted to a Strat a while ago, and it turned out to be the only single coil'd Strat able to stand shoulder to shoulder with a-n-y humbucker equipped guitar in terms of volume, grunt and guts!
Also found the clean sounds very likeable; overall kinda like P90's...with more edge.
