Changing 2 wires to 4 wires on a pickup.

Hello I'm fairly new to the forum and I searched the forum and I can not find anything on this,I hope someone can help me.
How difficult is it to change a 2 conductor wire to a 4 wire conductor?
My pickup is a BB3 with 2 wire and I would like to change it to a 4 wire conductor.

Re: Changing 2 wires to 4 wires on a pickup.

are you pretty good at mending stuff? changing conductors is not that difficult but you have to know what you are doing. Beisdes potentially you can knacker your pickup. I'd not risk it unless you have plenty of money and you can afford new pickups which defeats the object anyway.

Jonesy has designed a wiring kit hat allows you to set two buckers in or out of phase and parallel or series with REGULAR two conductor pickups. Great idea, if you ask me.

Re: Changing 2 wires to 4 wires on a pickup.

Great thank you for your help,I'm going to look into that wiring from Jonesy.
The reason I wanted the 4 wires is for the "Jimmy Page wiring".I found a diagram for that wiring and I wanted to try it.
I do have a push/pull installed on my guitar (an Epi Les Paul)and it does gives me an OOP tone (somewhat of a Peter Green Tone),I've read with the JP wiring even when the pot is up and the toggle switch is in the treble postion it gives a single coil effect close to a Telecaster tone. With the wiring I have now the OOP works in the middle position and when I set the toggle in the treble and the pot up it has no effect and goes back to the humbucker tone(that is the best way I can put it).
I'm going to check with Jonesy.
Thanks Again

And that's coming from a guy that's taken sandpaper and a soldering iron to his Tokai more times than anyone here can remember.

I wouldn't recommend attempting this mod unless you REALLY know what you're doing. I'd bet that you could send them to just about any winder and they could make that happen, though I'm not sure the cost would be worth it.

It's not an easy job. Here's a great video to watch:

Re: Changing 2 wires to 4 wires on a pickup.

Thanks again for all your input and thank you FF Pedals for the video.I think I'll save up and buy a pickup with 4 wires or just get a get one of Jonesy's wiring.
