Seymour Duncan Pickup Covers

I'm wanting to cover my pickups and found these
SEYMOUR DUNCAN NICKEL HUMBUCKING PICK-UP COVER - eBay (item 190282190604 end time Nov-19-09 15:28:52 PST)
My question is the pole measurement the same for both the neck and bridge pickup?

Re: Seymour Duncan Pickup Covers

Really depends on what pickups that you have installed in your guitar. You don't say if they are original or even what guitar it is.
Why don't you just measure them both and see?

Re: Seymour Duncan Pickup Covers

I have a 59 in the neck and Custom Custom in the bridge. Both SD. I didn't think it mattered what guitar it was since its a a regular humbucker. I was just asking if all sd humbuckers had the same pole spacing.

True, it doesn't matter what guitar you're putting it in, but you didn't give ANY information in that first post that would allow a person to figure out if that cover would fit.

Re: Seymour Duncan Pickup Covers

Those will fit fine. Just follow all the recommended advice when installing covers to avoid feedback issues. (re-pot, or at least add a strip of double stick tape to the top, etc.)

Re: Seymour Duncan Pickup Covers

Can I just wax the cover or do I need to wax the whole pickup?

Re: Seymour Duncan Pickup Covers

Wymoreguitars.com has pup covers that are specifically designed for Duncans. If you buy from them, you can't really go wrong...

Wax potting isn't necessary as long as you make sure the pole pieces fit cleanly into the holes of the pickup cover and make absolutely sure that there is no air pocket between the inside of the pickup cover and the pickup face. Then solder away.

To answer your question. YES the pole measurments are the same for regular spaced Duncan pickups, neck and bridge. BUT....if you have a trembucker in the bridge position, they have different measurements than the regular spaced Duncans.

Bottom line, you can get gold or chrome covers for Duncan pickups only from Duncan directly (their pole measurments are different than generic pickups.) You can find them on eBay all the time, just make sure what type of Duncan pickup you have, regular spaced or trem spaced. They will slide right on and work great. I have used them with no problems whatever. Hope this helps.

Re: Seymour Duncan Pickup Covers

Thanks for all the help. Wymore has them cheaper than the ones on ebay so I'll shoot them an email to make sure they fit seymours.

Re: Seymour Duncan Pickup Covers

Trembuckers are spaced for Fender-type string spacing.
