nothing like turning it up!!!
a few weeks ago, i replaced my stock bb pros with a seymour duncan jb/jazz set.... and due to scheduling conflicts, and practice being cancelled by the drummer(always the drummer, isn't it?), i haven't been able to plug into the big amp and wail away until tonight.... and man, let me say, there is a world of difference in my sound, and me likey.... everything is a lot more clear, and you can hear parts and sounds that you weren't able to hear before(which in some cases is bad, and makes you a better player)
it seems like i have more chunk when i want it, and things sound a lot smoother as well... not saying the bb pros are bad, but they just didn't fit my application... so after installing an RS kit months ago, and upgrading pups a few weeks ago... i have my own signature model... too bad you can't just have gibson send you a prebuilt body and neck so you can add whatever hardware and electronics you want... to anybody out there not happy with their sound, i suggest upgrading pots and caps first, then if you still aren't where you wanna be after you give it a little time, then upgrade the pups...

Re: nothing like turning it up!!!
i agree they are good pups, just not the sound that i was wanting from my guitar... so i decided to change, and am more pleased than ever with my lp... to my ears, the duncans provide a lot more clarity to my playing..

Re: nothing like turning it up!!!
For my taste I haven't ever liked any of Gibsons stock pickups. This goes for the 490 series, the 57's, and the bb's. They always seem to be to bright and unbalanced, or lack articulation.
Jb's are a great choice, congrats |

Re: nothing like turning it up!!!
yeah.. articulate is a great way to put it when i think about it... thats exactly what the new pup set sounds like.. articulate...
and sorry mrrhoads... don't really have a way to get some good sound samples from the big amp at the current moment, so i guess that i'm just a big tease...

Re: nothing like turning it up!!!
I know what you mean about the JB. I have a JB in my LP Studio Lite, I wasn't sure at first but it was the only pickup I had spare lying around. After I bought my Studio on eBay I found that the pickups had been swapped around because the 500T was in the neck and it had a blown coil and had been replace by another from a Carvin Pickup. The neck pickup was actually in the bridge. I moved it back and put in the JB. WOW......I love the way it sounds. I thought I would put it in until I got another 500T, but no way now....I will never take out this JB. I just love it.
