Re: ShedPickups

Still working on a new site where sound clips actually work.
Also, until last week I wasn't able to play guitar as it's taken ages to recover from my little accident. I suppose I could have got someone in to play the samples but no one has any spare time these days.

Hey Spence. I will help you out if you like. I just got a new amp and would love to do some clips.

It's only a soldering iron , not rocket science !!!! Not sure where I'm gonna use the Shed's yet ... Maybe I'll have to get another historic or replica to put them in !!!

I did email back but I'm not sure it's working right. You can always get me on the www.shedpickups.co.uk website. That's definately working.

Re: ShedPickups

I was hoping there was a thread on Shed pickups. Last April I ordered the PAF Daddy's from Spence to put in a Early 53 that was routed for PAF's. When I first got them the guitar it had a horrible fret job and the ABR-1 post were not in the right position. The nut sucked as well. The pickups sounded so good in that old wood, I used it on two gigs. The guitar recorded so well. Since then, I had Phil at PhilTonemusic do the frets, level the board to compensate for the low neck angle. Also Phil repositioned the ABR-1 post and of course Did the Mapleflame mod with the post 1 1/4 in the body. I have been so happy with the sound of the pickups, I got rid off my Ten Pair of PAF's. Yes that's right all those PAF's. That fret job was to die for, practically plays itself. The one thing that I notice is how the pickup with cover sounds compared to the real PAF's. It has the nasal honk, cool Bark, midrange bite, individual note tone, and that great sound from the relationship of the Cover and pickup. Only the guys that play real PAF's will understand what I am talking about. The good thing about these, you don't have to buy several of them to fing a good one, which is a crap shoot with PAF's.
Here's the guitar in question. Horrible refin from the second owner. Shaved ABR-1 and obviously horrible rings. I have the good ones that will get sanded down. I may be able to get the bridge one taller after the board leveling.

Yep, these Shed thingys are seriously good pickups - don't tell everyone. We don't want Spence to get swamped.
