Would Jimmy Page be as cool is he had a skin head, tattoo's and had a fondness for tight fitting Lycra ?

I think they would sound the part going from what others have said here. Apparently Pagey has a Duncan in his bridge at the moment so go figure.... Maybe someone should send him one

Re: ShedPickups

I've played the Duncan wind of pickup that he uses... it is "special order only" through Marciela at SD.... It's the exact tone from "Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes, Live At The Greek" double CD.

It's pretty cool but I'd rather go for that early 69 late 73 live tone he's known for.

Me too. I wonder why Seymour didn't just wind one like his original double white in the first place...But it looks like Nugget is thinking along thought lines with his.

He needs to post soundclips. And state the name of the amp he's using. If I like what I hear I'm in!

Sound clips would be helpful, But you never realy know how good something is untill you personaly try it.

Maybe somone here who has a set will post some soon.

Re: ShedPickups

You know, I do need to do some clips. I had everything set up ready to go but I had a bit of an accident where I cut my left index finger down to the bone and 1 1/2" long. I haven't been able to play up until recently. I'll have to set everything up again.
I only use one amp. It's a Mesa Boogie F50 with a Weber AlNiCo speaker.
The valves are whatever fits.

Thanks NTT, if I get to play it for 50yrs I will only be 105 yrs old, I dont see that happening.
Maybe I do leave the occasional cum stain after I'm thru playing. They do sound as good or better than they look, but only I know for sure, well another up and comer here locally knows too, Tyler Adams ordered 2 sets for himself today from Spence. He wanted mine but it wasnt happening. Also one of the guy's in a band thats been opening for the Flaming Lips tours is quite interested

Give it me, I'll be in my 80's.....That's younger than Les Paul is now and about the same biological age as "Keef" Richards.

I could enjoy that Lester for you.

Re: ShedPickups

Spence-

Do your Supernaturals have the same charateristics as the PAF Daddy's in the Neck only and Bridge only settings? Obviously the middle position is going to completely different, but is there a different charateristic we should aspect from those settings vs your typical PAF Daddy?

Thanks in advance...

The bridge is a a PAF Daddy and will operate exactly as you'd expect on it's own.
The neck pickup will also act just like it should on it's own but it's not wound with plain enamel like the bridge pickup is. It's also electrically out of phase with the bridge pickup. This only effects the middle switch setting.

how does the different wrapping affect the sound/output of the neck pickup? Or does it?

It gives it a huge and very clear bell-like tone.

I'm looking into mini humbuckers. I've done them before but I can't get all the right parts at the moment and I wouldn't want to put second-rate stuff out there.

Re: ShedPickups

Is it in my imagination or do i remember something about some silent single coils coming from you?. I'm getting into Jeff Beck again and found out that he's been using stacked coils in his strat for a long time. There not Fender's design though. Jeff's tech thinks the man who made them is dead but he ain't. In fact he's showing in NAMM as we speak.

I just wondered if you got any further with then, or are you concentrating on the humbuckers more.

I have made them and can do again whenever. They do require a lot of work especially with one of the materials I use and they are the same size as a standard single coil, wound with Formvar and only have two eyelets for the hookups. With the covers on, you'd never know they weren't a vintage single coil. Trouble is, that amount of work is costly. Still, they work and they're entirely my own thing and owe nothing to any other noiseless.

I'm making equal amounts of all types of Fender and Gibson pickups to be fair. It's just this forum's mostly into Humbuckers.

I might even make some noiseless singles next week if I have some downtime. It's about time I put them on the website really.

Re: ShedPickups

I sure hope you find what you need to make them because I want a set of your pick ups SOOOO Bad and thats what i really need. But I think that I f I can sell a guitar or two Im gonna snap and finally buy a set of the Daddy's. Would you have any objections to putting them in an explorer? Because Im getting one "back in business" and It could sure use some nice PAFs, to get a 58, 59 korina feel...

Arr. I assumed you may have abandoned the project with no mention of them on your sight.... Thanks for the update.

Go for it. I have a set in my own Flying V. Such a great guitar to play now.
