Re: What's your Pickup Combination?

I'm primarily using three guitars right now, all Gibsons.

SG Faded
490r and 490t in the neck and bridge respectively

Les Paul Standard (2007)
Burstbucker Pros in neck and bridge

Les Paul Studio Lite (1991)
Rio Grande Genuine Texas and BBQ 'Bucker in neck and bridge, respectively

I play a lot of alt-country and rock, although I stray into Sabbath-esque metal and punk on occasion. The sound I've been using lately is a pretty meaty overdrive that cleans up as I back off my attack or ease up on the volume knob.

The LP Standard is a bit harsh in this configuration. It cuts through easily, and the wound strings have lots of growl, but the highs and mids are unpleasant. A pot and cap change may be in order. The Studio Lite is a little "brown" sounding to get a really clear clean sound, but it absolutely kicks ass when I lay into it, and the warmer clean sound is good for playing higher up on the neck. The SG is "just right." I can get a gnarly overdriven sound and still get some nice clean textures if I so choose.

[QUOTE=dennistruckdriver;882393]That would be perfectly fine with me, as that is a great photo! Matter of fact, the kid on the right looks a lot like me when I was little!

Re: What's your Pickup Combination?

Thanks all for the input. I've been thinking along the lines of another Seth Lover or a Pearly Gates in the bridge. I'll have to read up on the Wolfetones too.
