EMG 89/89 combo

I hear that the EMG 85 sounds better, fatter, and more articulate than the 81 and the 89 is is a 85 with coil splitting. So how would a 89/89 combo sound like? I know I would have more sound possibilities because of the coil splitting.
What about the 89R? Would a better combo be 89/89R?

I think if you want the most flexibility and variety of sounds, you would go with an 89R in the neck and an 81TW in the bridge.
