Re: Kent Armstrongs

Those are the import line of Kent Armstrongs, made by Dong Ho in Korea. Kent designs them, and oversees quality. For the money, they're a really nicely made pickup, with a great tone. They actually use very high-quality parts, including stainless steel baseplates. I bet you'd be quite happy with them, but for a more vintage tone, you should look at their "PAF" models.

Neither, those are both metal pickups, they won't get any classic rock sounds without a lot of tweaking...
I would go with something mellower for the Page tone...

Re: Kent Armstrongs

Kent always used to do a "Classic" PAF style pickup, which would be ideal for the styles of music you're talking about. He also did a "JB" style, but I found it a little too hot for my liking.

Not sure what his old UK company is trading as now, think it belongs to WD, and is in Shadoxhurst in Kent. Track them down and give them a call. They are good people and will be able to advise.

As gmacdonnell has said, great pickups for the money. They are also sold under the "Rainbow" brand, but same thing, designed by Kent and made in Korea.

Really any PAF style pickup is gonna work pretty well, Dimarzio PAFs or Seymour Duncan '59s are 2 of the most popular. I would do some research and listen to them and then decide.

Re: Kent Armstrongs

Give Rainbow a call 01233 820082 Kent's son Aaron works upstairs making pickups. He even winds the Charlie Christian replicas currently for sale! He could definitely advise you which Armstrong pickups would suit.
