Re: i want somwthing with more bite

nah its the custom the one in my sig, my first thought was to go a burstbucker 1,2,3 all in a row but iv been told to go for 2,2,3 and then for price rasoning i was thinking for going with the SD equivilent all i know is i would like to keep the covered look but if i cant definatly going either all cream/white bobbins or zebra configuration.

Paul, what tone are you going after? I am assuming with an SG you are an AC DC guy. I would recommend without hesitation, wills Vintage hot 67 07 wound bridge. That is basically the closest you can get to that pickup.....

high gain hot output,

nice rhythm tone in the neck position but still with some bite to the tone, something a bit hotter and twangier in the middle with a bit less body tone and higher gain, and something high gain rip your head off tone with moderate body in the bridge.

i know im aiming pretty high but this looks like its going to be my guitar for years to come so i want to get it right.

Give me your vote which pickup config should I go for? or suggest your own.

ok iv got a brand new epi sg custom ltd ed w/maestro tremolo which is spectacular except for the pickups they are just adverage stock epi's theyr way to muddy and don't sute the guitar at all.

so in the pole are what im thinking of, i really want to keep the look of the guitar so iv picked pickups i can replace the cover with a gold one and i would like to go with gibson i just like the ovalish tone you get.

remember that the pickups that are in it now are: neck hb, neck hb, bridge hb, or normal hb, normal hb, hb +

Re: i want somwthing with more bite

Well How bout Burstbucker 1, Burstbucker 2, and Angus Young?
Front pickup will be somewhat milder , Middle will have bite, Rear and middle will practically slay, and the rear alone, well speaks for itself

I would say BB1, BB2, and BB2 if you could. The angus pup is OK, but if your going after market you have better options...

If your going Gibson....

I really like the Angus Young bridge. I have one still in one of my own guitars. No need to change it.

Re: i want somwthing with more bite

coz i really want somehting to rip your head off hows about a burstbucker 2, burstbucker 3, angus young sig coz if you have a look at the pickup output chart on the gibby website the angus young leaves the burstbuckers in the dust it would be overpowering

I aint goin into contest with the Pickup Man over there, but ya said MORE Bite, The 500T is rated higher output but not always the full story,
Find an Older Angus though like he recommended

i think im going bb2 bb3 angus young if you look at the pickup output chart they are on a steady gradient and i don't want one overpowering the others to much.

or bb3 bb3 angus young.....aaaaaaahhhh i dunno i might go for a angus young neck in the neck and middle then angus young bridge for well...the bridge.

or jsut go standard with a bb pro neck bbpro neck bb pro bridge

or bb pro neck bb pro neck angus young sig bloody hell i just cant decide

Hey I have liked some 500 T's as well. They just to me don't sound that great in a Maple Top/ Mahogany Pauls with the Ceramics in them. Better in all Mahogany guitars. I have changed the ceramics out before and put in some Alnico V's and it was a big improvement in Pauls. Just my opinion, I don't know what I am talking about...

Thats why I went 1, 2, and Young One thing , right at the end of the fretboard where your front pickup is, is where most of your string volume is projected, and loses volume as you go back, typically why rear pickups are always hotter wound

you think it will sute the guitar?

what about a 57 classic, 2, angus young

the 57 output is at about the output of a 2 but would be better for rhythm

the middle pickup dosnt have to be such a high output because with the toggle switch it comines the middle pickup with either the neck or bridge eg when the toggle switch is set to rhythm the the neck and middle pickup are active when in the middle all pickups are active when in the trebble position the bridge and the middle pickup are active.

i think with the two in the middle it will smooth the transition from neck to bridge and if i dont want it in there i can just turn the volume for it all the way down

the 57 output is at about the output of a 2 but would be better for rhythm

the middle pickup dosnt have to be such a high output because with the toggle switch it comines the middle pickup with either the neck or bridge eg when the toggle switch is set to rhythm the the neck and middle pickup are active when in the middle all pickups are active when in the trebble position the bridge and the middle pickup are active.
Either might work, The Classic 57 in my LP with the BB 3 in the rear, I have the Classic57 lowered below the ring and the BB bout as high as it will go without magnetic interference on the strings , you might want to check into how Gibson wires the newer Framptons, I think that or the new six way toggle might prove nicer options too
