Anybody have Alnico 4 pups?
I just ordered a Hot PAF set from WB, with alnico 4 in the neck and bridge.
I have heard that these magnets are the best of A2 and the best of A5 all rolled into one. Anyone have a pair of A4 'buckers? If so what do you think??? |

I have a set of Kevin Taylor's @ Guitar Force Lord Of The Blues pups with A4 mags.....I love 'em! I replaced my Burstbucker 1 & 2 set with them..I also have a set of his Rebel 1's( with A5(Bridge) and A3(neck)..They are just a little hotter than the A4's but I wanted the LOTB's for the sound that they give...
Some folks don't like A4 mags...I for one just love mine! Products

My ShedZeps use an A4 in the neck pup, a common PAF setup.

Re: Anybody have Alnico 4 pups?
I'm expecting my Guitarforce Lord of the Blues set from Kevin any day now...
I have a pair of Highorder Humbuckers that came originally with A2's in both the neck and the bridge. I ordered them for a guitar that is very dark sounding and the A2 was too "boomy" in the neck. Jeff was kind enough to send me an A3 and an A4 magnet to try out. The A3 fixed the boomy neck pickup, so I tried the A4 in the bridge. It's staying there... The A4 has a wonderfully clear, open, kind of tone that never gets spikey at all. That's what I wanted in a pickup, the amp does the rest. |
