are you sure that's the right number? I looked that up and it's a fire detection and alarm system from the 50's.

If I remember right, I've read Gibson used to put wrong numbers on their stuff to keep folks from ripping off their idea...but i'm not an expert on pups.

I keep my knowledge to amps and pedals!

If you put in the number #2.737.842 you get an old gibson pickup from the 50s...
But the od ones are to have nickel cover and not chrome

MANY MANY Gibson pickups had that patent number, from 1962-1990. Is it on a sticker, or is it embossed on the backing plate?

Well, to answer your questions, and to identify it, there are many things we need to know, the first being sticker or stamped.

2.737.842 is not a pickup, its the fire thing like I said. Contact the seller and ask him what Skatter already said.

I cant check the other number...darn network is all kinds of screwed up right now!

Re: Gibson pickup patent #2.737.642

2,737,842 IS the patent number put on Gibson Pickups from 1962-1990. It really was a patent number for a Gibson bridge. Gibson put the wrong patent number on their pickups to thwart their competition.

I would do it for you but my network is all kinds of screwed up. I checked this yesterday and read patent number which was a fire system. Could you post up that link since I can't?

It may be? BUT it is also on millions of Gibson Pickups, and it was the patent number for a Gibson bridge.

a quick google, ...642 is the fire thing, ...842 is Gibson. You have to search the correct number.
