PAF comparison audio files

It is simply not dead to wars! The speech is of the first and at the
same time allegedly most ingenious Humbucker creation from the house
Gibson. The PAF"Pickup unfortunately gepr?e on a phonetically d?ichen
name is not to be paid as original today no more. It is to sound
nevertheless so incomparably tender and cremig that it borders already
almost on a miracle. Numerous manufacturers k?eln since that time with
alchemistischer meticulousness after the Humbucker world formula and
charms more or less good copies from the hat and none of those
obviously seems it to in addition wars so correctly. Or perhaps
nevertheless? ... The participant field consists of altogether 19 of
PAF clone of different manufacturers. Among them established Gr?n does
not only find such as Gibson, Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio, but also
partly exotic fashion shop products of smaller manufacturers such as
Jim wagner, Andreas Kloppmann or Boris cathedral-mix. One tested in an
select Gibson Historic Collection Les Paul Standard 1959, which was
best?t with original 1959er Spraque Bumblebee foil condensers. This
instrument was unbelievably importantly f?den test, because as already
erw?t, one comes the PAF clay/tone only in connection with the correct
wood (Prim?Ton) on the trace. A Seymour Duncan Antiquity e.g. w?e in a
Les Paul copy sound still completely good to the cheap Far East, its
tats?liches potential completely however never reveal... ( sorry my german translation )

It's tough to tell because they probably used a solid state amp.

Re: PAF comparison audio files

Wow, thats a horrible test :-( They all sound exactly alike. Maybe they used a POD instead of an amp, big mistake. The guy is not a very good player either and thats a big downside, bad players make everything sound bad :-(

This reminds me of the Acme guitar sound clips, you can't tell one pickup from another, they need to say how the clips were recorded, studio amp emulators and such just mask things so much it useless information in the end. What I do on my site is purposefully use NO effects, nothing fancy, just a simple vintage Princeton, plug the guitar straight in, mic the amp and I'm done. If one's pickups sound dull and lifeless that way they'll never sound any better once you pile the effects over 'em...

I think I probably didn't like any of them but if I had to plump for one it would be the SD Antiquity.

In any case my own PAF Daddy sounds better than all of them.
Oh and my Supernaturals set; a tribute to Peter Green is sonic nirvana.

Bragging? No, I believe in my stuff, do my research, seek out the right materials and use my own pickups in all my guitars.

Re: PAF comparison audio files

I'm going to start a new thread where players and makers can post sound clips of their pickups. As a maker I don't often get to listen to other's work and its probably the same for other makers, we're all so focused on our own paths....

Re: PAF comparison audio files

Can you imagine getting an inside view of that guitar?
It's lucky that I have that knowledge.
Based on what I have learned, I can discount most of the myths and legends, fishwive's tales and bull that turns up on various websites.
You have a PM message Shrine69.

Re: PAF comparison audio files

Here is what I dont get, I have asked before if any two PAF pickups were near identical or could be matched. since there is such a wide variable of PAF's some being stellar, some being downright tone dead, can you even compare them ?
