Pickup review: Manalishi Pickups
Hello all,
Long time lurker here; all this PAF shootout stuff got me interested in trying things out. I have a 1998 '58 RI LP that just wasn't really making it with the other guitars and I really was unable to deny my thirst for Peter Green tones. So I got the Manalishi Pickups because I could get them in a day and they sounded real nice when Gregor played them. They are real bright and crunchy and louder than my other guitars. Of course, now it's like eating buttered popcorn and I don't know if I can stop. So I bought an SD antiquity for another guitar since a lot of folks here seem to really like it. Oh man, that's a damn fine neck pickup. Anyway, here's some playing around with the middle position/knob variations/neck/bridge stuff to give you an idea of what they can do in a Peter Green kind of style. I mic'd my amp and plugged the board out into the camera, so the recorded sound should be pretty honest to what the pickups can do. Hope this is a good contribution back to the community here. |
