ReWind Electric Crème brûlée pickups

Hi all! Just thought I would take a moment to write a little something about the ReWind Electric Crème Brûlée pickups that I received from James yesterday. I ordered this set for my 61 reissue SG at the current special he is running. Long story long... I love them. I do happen to really like Gibson's '57 classics. To my ears, they're just the ticket in my ES-3x5 guitars. I got it in my head that it would be great to put an un-potted set of '57 Classics in this SG, in hopes that I could loosen it up... break it loose at volume. I love the way semis howl through my low power Twin and JTM45 combos. I came across a ReWind Electric post describing these Crème brûlées. Read the description and thought I'd give 'em a go.

Verdict? I love them. I find them to be exactly as described. So I'll spare you the details... James nails it in his original post description.

I got what I wanted, and then some. I am truly impressed, and I'm glad I came across his post.

I will say that James was a pleasure to deal with. He was very quick to answer the few questions I had. Packaging was great, and I dig the ReWind decals. Excellent details. But most important... I really like the pickups, and they'll stay in the guitar for the duration.

Anywho... thought I'd post (unsolicited) some pics and a vid clip of the newly equipped SG through my low power Twin. Volume is full up... I kick in a treble boost for a short bit... but otherwise, guitar straight into amp. Shot it with an iPhone so quality is nowhere near quite up to snuff (nor is my playing) for judging sound, so I hope I'm not doing James a disservice by posting it

Nice! Glad you are digging them as I have a set on order. They are going into my 335 too . Can't wait. Covers look good too.

Re: ReWind Electric Crème brûlée pickups

Thank for the very kind words, Lex!

I'm not the greatest player but I enjoy paying and I love music with all my heart so I keep at it. Bands I've played in have mostly been just for fun. When I read these comments about my pickups though, I feel really special and I know that I have a very valid place in the music industry. I've found something I'm really good at that helps musicians sound better and make music. What could be more satisfying in life than loving what you do and doing it well? I hope my little pickup business blossoms into something sustainable so I can keep at it forever.

I'm so glad you like them! They sound FANTASTIC in that demo. The note bloom is some of the best I've ever heard. You've got a way of mastering that wild amp and making it behave in your style. I really dig it! Thank you very much for taking the time to record and post that. It really shows the how full and big, yet still open, detailed, and dynamic these pickups are and the range of sounds that can be achieved with a little twist of the volume knobs. ...it also shows how badass a Twin sounds at full tilt!

Creme Brûlée, baby!

No prob, James... Thank you for the EXCELLENT pickups! That Twin is my fave. My old man threw that one together when I was building my JTM45 Bluesbreaker clone. I borrowed the Twin for an album.... and I haven't given it back

Re: ReWind Electric Crème brûlée pickups

So many outstanding pups to try,
So little time and funds…

Such a shame there's no such thing as a try before you buy offer.
It would eliminate a lot of variables and heartache, not to mention loss of money when you find they're not for you.
Ah well.

Thanx muchly for this thread and of course to,cooljuk.

Re: ReWind Electric Crème brûlée pickups

Love my ReWind Double Cream Stouts. Bought some BKPs the other day for my new LP - played them for about 30mins before taking the BKPs out and installing my ReWinds.

Great pickups.

Great pickups.
FYI - the "Double Cream Stouts" are now simply called the "High Output PAF Set." I dropped that nomenclature because it was confusing having similar names to bobbin colors.

So I suppose you've got a "Limited Edition" model now, Chop.
