Tim Shaw Firebird Pickups?

Did Shaw ever make Firebird Pickups as well? I just picked up a set of "early 80's) FB PUP's with pat no. stamped on the back (2737842), braided wire and with readings of 23.5K and 15.5 K. There is no date stamp on the base plate.

Re: Tim Shaw Firebird Pickups?

Bump on this subject. I can't find any information about this pickup in Dave Hunter's The Guitar Pickups Handbook, or anywhere else on the internet. The most one can say is that there were minihumbuckers made in the "Shaw Era", but to attribute them to Shaw's design or specifications would be a stretch. To add to the confusion, there was a listing this month on ebay with an ink-stamped minihumbucker (item number 390356859636).

vintage Tim Shaw Era Gibson patent # 1981 pickup for Firebird Les Paul Deluxe | eBay

Stamp number was 448 1181, which would make it a 1981.

I hope Skatterbrane can add some more information, because this is an interesting topic for historians.

DC DOES NOT EQUAL OUTPUT. Dc is a resistance value and that is all. It WILL NOT tell you what it will sound like, it WILL NOT make you sound like another player.
