Well Flick is a not too distant neighbor to me, a few hours ride and i'm there. Actually I am going to be in Atlantic city the end of the month for some technical training, only 3 days and most of that will be in a classroom. I am going to make it a point to find a white castle and eat till I explode

There are so many great pickups out there these days, it's really hard to say what the best is. The term best only means they are the best to you.

I agree with Weldaar, in that there are lots of makers out there who have nailed the flavor.

My latest discovery is the RS Guitarworks Psychebilly set (custom wound by Lindy). They are exact copies of the PAFs from a '58 LP Standard. (You've heard it on the Kentucky Headhunters albums)

I heard them at the Nashville show, followed by a set of '59 PAFs...it was incredibly close. They are low powered PAFs, unpotted...very sweet. Definitely not for a metal high-gain player though.

An original set of PAFs is way out of my league, but the Psychebillys are gonna go in my R9.
