Wb Custom Pickups !!! Demo Round 2 !!! Starting July 1,2008
![]() This is for demos only for July 1st 2008. Please keep on topic. Not a discussion thread or contact for existing orders. WB Pickups had such a great experience with our first round of demo pickups a year ago that we are proud to announce round 2 of our demo pickups. The first demo set(S) won’t be shipped out until July 1st due to us playing catch up with a few orders from taking some time off recently for our personal issues. In this second round we are offering the Habaneros, the VTPH, the Gregwinds, and the WB Hammers, and a WB Mystery set. 20 people for each set only. You can only sign up for one of the pickups offered. We will start the demo tour in Canada and then move to the US and finally to the UK. If you like the pickups you demo, you have the option to purchase them at a discounted demo price. The way it will work is as follows: Qualifications- You will have to be a MLP member with at least 100 post. You will also have to provide WB Pickups with the following contact information, first and last name, address, and phone number. Shipping- We will ship to the first person on the list priory mail through the USPS or your Country’s Priority Shipping method with a Delivery confirmation. You will then demo the pickups and send them to the address next on the list. It is Mandatory that you ship USPS or your country's priority shipping method with a delivery confirmation. Then just send WB the tracking number. We will start the tour in Canada then moving to the US and finally to the UK. Demo trial period- You have 7 days from the day the pickups are delivered to demo them. After the 7 days you can purchase them at a discounted price or send the pickups to the next person. Purchasing- The discounted price for the pickups are, Habaneros- $180 the WB Hammers- $190 and the VTPH-$175. Just contact us to purchase. We will then send out to next person another set of demo pickups to replace the purchased set. Pickup Descriptions HABANEROS These started as a custom wind for JLH. He wanted something like the PAFs you hear in certain southern rock recordings. That raunchy, tone dripping, sizzling sound. I feel that they represent a certain type of PAF that would have had an early breakup and the nice growl, sizzle, rich harmonic content and beauty of a classic pickup. Another quote from Eddie "I have never had a pickup quite like this. They sound famous. They sound old, but in a great way." The Habañeros are wound to a 7.95K on the neck and a 9.45K on the bridge. All the hot pepper you need for that old southern rock n' roll. One of our customers, Eddie A, writes: "Legend has it that these were wound on a quiet full moon night. One coil was wound with hair from the Cajun Witch Marie LeVeau, the other from bailing wire from Cletus' moonshine still. The pole pieces and slugs were made from an old Ford pickup rusting in a peach orchard in Georgia. There was more magic and some incantations, I believe..." VTPH Our flagship pickups, WB's Vintage Tuned PAF set packs the growl, sweetness, and tone of the originals that inspired them. Unbalanced coils. Correct enamel wire. Hand-cut real maple wood spacers. Will recommends aged AlNiCo II magnets in the neck and aged AlNiCo V. These are the Hot versions which don’t let the name full ya. The outputs of these are 7.79K neck and the bridge is 8.6K HAMMERS These are a more modern aggressive pickup set. A bit thicker than my Heaven and Hells but still retaining clarity. Really balls out heavy tones that will shake the foundations. The Hammers read a full articulate 8.2K on the neck and a blistering 17.8K on the bridge. *WARNING* IF YOU HAVE A FAINT HEART, DO NOT APPLY TO THESE! THEY WILL LEAVE YOU FEELING LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN RUN DOWN BY A TACO TRUCK WITH WILL AT THE WHEEL! GREGWINDS / Not For Sale ( Contact Greg @ BCR MUSIC & SOUND ) http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/pick...w.bcrmusic.com The GregWind Set is made from a recipe Greg had and I executed. The bridge pickup is 12k with a punchy lower mid that cleans up nicely when you back off the volume to a cleaner chime. The neck (8K) is very sweet, and at full pop into a gain channel still has a clarity and "clink" to the notes while being very clear and articulate, regardless of volume setting.( BCR Greg ) I always hated how dark and clotty the neck pickup would sound on a Les Paul when you ran into a clean channel and eq'ed for the bridge pickup. These are the ones that I have always dreamed of. PROTO: Magical Mystery Set / Not For Sale On This round This is a Magical Mystery PROTO Set that is wound old school vintage style with a little surprise. The tones are vintage and are very close to the VTPH’s. You guys can tell me what you think. These will not available for sale until August/ September 2008 If you qualify and want to be a part of the WB demo round 2, contact me @ Laura.WBPICKUPS@gmail.com with all the required contact information. This is my email address for the demo pickups only, not for current existing orders. You can email us here for them, info@wbpickups.com Thank You, Laura

Re: Wb Custom Pickups !!! Demo Round 2 !!! Starting July 1,2008
I need to get more posts. Actually, I was going to order some Habs for my R9 anyway, so I guess it would be redundant.

Re: Wb Custom Pickups !!! Demo Round 2 !!! Starting July 1,2008
Not even close to 100 posts, bummer. I'd love to try the VTPH. Perhaps someone here in Chicagoland could let me take some for a spin.

Re: Wb Custom Pickups !!! Demo Round 2 !!! Starting July 1,2008
I'm in the NW burbs of Chicago. You could try BB customs...in a LP custom, or firewaters in a sc250. Not sure what will end up in the R9 just yet. The sheps that are in there are okay..just missing a little kick. Not bad, just not quite right yet. I need to put those back in the sc245 I stole them from.

Re: Wb Custom Pickups !!! Demo Round 2 !!! Starting July 1,2008
Thanks BB! I do make it down to STL on business fairly often and will drop you a note. Sounds like a great rig you have. I have an R7 myself and McNaught DC that I play through a variety of amps including the Shiva, Matchless DC30 and my fave Cornell Plexi 45/50. Shotgunlew was raving about WB pickups when I met him a few weeks back and I'm curious what I may be missing out on. Take care.
