Re: Strat Single Coils & Tele Single Coils

You cannot put a strat pickup in a standard tele bridge,it won't fit.
There are different kinds of pickups for different tones---when Leo Fender wound the strat pup,it was going into a plastic (bakelite) pickguard and not a metal bridge. Also,he was looking for a new sound.
To me,the whole reason to have a tele is to have THAT sound. To put a strat pickup in a tele bridge would be a real expense and kind of defeating the purpose,IMHO.You could have a tele pup wound to strat specs,but....
I've always been rather traditional with strats and teles, keeping them stock (except for the odd itch I've had occasionally).

Re: Strat Single Coils & Tele Single Coils

Actually, Fender wanted the 'new' guitar to sound just like the tele but look more futuristic. Prototype strat pickups are very different from what we are familiar with today. Most people have never seen these pickups; I have.
