Here's how we will do it:

The price for the boards and the parts are the same for everybody, so is the price for the base enclosure. Then there are the upcharges for various kinds of paints and labels. The cost for this will vary.
Once this is calculated, you will send the money to the treasurer, Mr. Beerdog. He will use those pennies to pay for all the parts and paints.

When everything is done and ready to be shipped, the actual costs for the shipping will be calculated individually. You will shove some more pennies towards the dawg and your kit will be on its way to you.
If you ever bought a pedal from the USA in the recent past, the shipping will be close to this.

Bumping this important read to the next page:

For the guys who are full in...I need to know what color you want the pedal itself to be. IMO, the power up mushroom will look best over white and Mookakian has already hit me up for a green enclosure. Other colors are obviously possible but they will take a bit more time since printers don't print in white ink...they assume white and adjust accordingly. There are printers capable of white ink but they are very expensive and I've never even seen one. Basically, if say, you want your pedal black and the power up mushroom, or other graphic with white or light colors, I have to go back with the airbrush and layer white above those area on the graphic to make sure it's actually visible. Its not impossible, but a little more time consuming. Click back a page or two to the 'Plexi' pedal I made for an example. Behind that graphic, is white, while the rest of the enclosure is black. Makes the graphic stand out more since I use clear templates.

Reason I ask what colors your wanting now is because I'm going to order some specific paints for myself (or others if need be ) and since it's being shipped via UPS Ground, the charges are kinda crappy since it's considered hazardous materials.

This is the perfect time to let me know what you would like. Also, after tomorrow, I'm taking off the next 12 days from work so my time is FREE to take care of the graphics/paint needs ahead of the kits showing up. I'm using a medium-fast catalyst since it's still hot and surprisingly humid here in Oklahoma at the moment so total cure time will be about 2-3 days after final coat. This way, I can knock out the boxes early so when the parts arrive, I just turn around and ship them out, with those who requested I build their boards having a minimal delay with board population and assembly. The paint/graphics is what takes the bulk of time for obvious reasons.

For those who want white, I have an idea I'd like to throw by you...I found a supplier nearby me that sells dry pearls cheaply, and I ordered some white, orange and blue 'flip pearls' in dry form. This effect is something that would be kinda subtle (if you want it that way) or LOUD if I up the mix a bit. Since I'm doing this work with my airbrush, the extra cost won't really be all that much since it literally takes TINY amounts to get the 'ghost' effect or a pinch more to get pretty wild. I think this would look awesome on the white pedals, including the graphics. Or I can just hit the edges of the enclosure for a 'ghost' looking effect.

If you want dark colors with some pearl over it...no problem. PM for details.

I'll try and dig up some examples so you can see it tomorrow...I had a LONG day at work so I'm going to bed.

If I lost anyone, either post your question for all to see or PM me.

House of Kolor Kandy Basecoat: KBC11 - Apple Red for me please, or whatever you or your suppliers have in stock that looks like the Centennial Alfa Romeo Red !
I found out they're using bits of mica through it.

Four members have posted that they were "in" but seem to have vanished: Boritch, Ekoms, greenalbatross, oliverphoto. Then there are some more who have shown interest or were / are on the fence. I think it's time to set a deadline for those people:

DEADLINE: Sunday the 26th of September

Seems fair, ten days to pick a colour and let me know a theme. Also, make sure you have some pennies to spare by that time. The time for talking and designing will be over then and it's time to start ordering stuff !
Hey V!N,

Sorry to flake out, I went MIA for a little while. I still want in on this. Help me get caught up.

As for picking a color, I like JM Vasek's idea, grey primer and rust. Is that possible? Something relic or road worn.

As for a graphic, I like the horns \m/.

Let me know what dicisions I need to make and where to send the funds. Thanks, I really appreciate the work you guys are doing on this.

I'm still in. Don't really know what I want for a graphic. Something simple and clean. Maybe just white with some script text on it. Nothing fancy.

Sorry! That just means an additive that speeds (or slows) the curing process. There are also additives that harden urethane paint to make it resistant to chemical, UV and other issues.

Hey Josh. Was thinking, with the new knob and all, the design will prob not work so well. Have you thrown any time in to redesigning yet? How would you feel about this colour with some simple cursive text instead. Looks like gold snakeskin

I'm pretty sure the mica is why their paint is illegal in the States.

I actually have some of that red in my box right now. I'll take a picture shortly and post it.

Wow...GREAT taste bro. The catch with that is I have to use HOK specific products for this. I'll save the board the trouble of my boring posts and PM you.

Integrating the washer of the footswitch into the mushroom's head allows for the largest possible schroom AND largest possible title on the pedal. Also, it's a nice wink to the games. Stomp on the schroom and get more power ! The schroom will have to be scaled down to fit between the knobs and the footswitch, the title will have to be scaled down and squished together to fit below the footswitch.

The asymmetrical layout of the parts you suggested will make it look rather messy and perhaps even a bit unprofessional. On top of that, I promised Kirk and Connie we'd use one consistent drill template for each enclosure.

Lastly, we'll be getting identical project bags from my supplier of parts, but you're free to get a different LED with the appropriate resistor elsewhere on your own.

Your call ! If you really, really want this, I will change it and ask Connie if they could make an exception.
Just don't ask me to use Comic Sans MS...
Can you show me what the two knob MXR sized pedal will look like with the power up model? Please?

If it's just a black or white you want without any flakes or pearls, you're better off with a coat from Pedal parts Plus. Then our Beerdog has more time for the special cases.

Sky, are you "in" as well ? It's not possible to put a decal on a black pedal. Do you want just a black pedal without any decal at all or a white one with a decal ? If you want the latter, then what theme would you like to see on there ?

Don't worry about it, Beerdog's post only applies to those who are getting the Hot Rod paints. Your enclosure will be drilled and painted at Pedal Parts Plus. Standard Colour: translucent gold with a custom up charge for the brushed effect.
The dawg will put the Tribal Angel decal on it and give it a couple of clear coats.

Good to see you're still out there. Beerdog will be ratrodding and pinstriping JM Vasek's pedal, I suppose he could do one for you as well and pinstripe something on there that resembles a hand throwing horns.

Alright, nice and clean it is. Shall I put "Ekoms" on there in a nice caligraphic typeface or do you have a different title in mind ?

Thank you ! But are you into Alfa Romeo cars and the 33 model in particular ? If not, then I could design a similar themed pedal for you, one that takes after your favourite car.
Using the dials from the clocks in the dash around the knobs, integrate the led in the grille or logo or any other feature of that car, etc.

Re: MLP Group Buy 'n Build Pedal Project

I heard there might be a couple of Led Zeppelin fans on this forum ? I've done a little sketching. Sadly, I still haven't received a drill template yet for the new two knob layout, so things may have to move around a bit. Oh well, I'm not done with the "Boost" part yet anyway.
If you like what you see, just yell dibs and pick a colour.

Re: MLP Group Buy 'n Build Pedal Project

V!N, I have a confession, I am flat out BROKE! I don't have a job(which is ok since I'm 15) and probably won't be able to afford the parts or kit itself. I feel like a big waste of time, but I'd like to just have a reserve on this(in other words, just remember what I wanted and I'll come back for one in a few months to buy the kit). sorry for all that wasted time and hope the project is success. I'm still going to check up on this thread just to see how it goes.

Maybe I misunderstood you, but you know that the MXR box is still available, right? You have the option to choose between them.
