Digitech Bad Monkey

Been recently looking for a new overdrive pedal. I have heard good things about this one. Anyone here use it, I would be interested in your opinions.
Thanks in advance

Re: Digitech Bad Monkey

I love mine. I use it a lot. I keep thinking I should upgrade on to somethings better, but I haven't found anything else that sounds all that much better. For the money, its the best value I've ever found in a pedal. I think the High Low Eq is really what helps this pedal sound so good.

I use one as a clean boost. It does wonderful things to my Peavey Classic 30!

Re: Digitech Bad Monkey

It's the first pedal I played that gave me a Wow factor of 10.

I found out from Digitech that it is an asymetrical clipping overdrive (as opposed to symetrical clipping Tubescreamer types).

I use it in the clean channel of my Mesa Boogie Mark 1 Reissue for distorted rhythms.

Best bang for the buck IMO.

+1, I use it for clean boost on my Crate V-18 112. It's a fantastic clean boost with the gain knob all the way down, and it allows me to dial in some much needed treble response into this amp. Great for classic rock crunch.

For heavier tones, I can get into Metal distortion territory with the amps gain at about 1'oclock and the Monkey's gain at about 10 or 11'oclock.

I also like to use it in on my Fender Champion 600 for various amounts of gain. Very versatile pedal, I'd like to get another.

Re: Digitech Bad Monkey

It's a great pedal ! Seems everyone thinks it junk cause it cost so little. I have custum made pedals, Klon, Landgraff, BBFE, some of the best...The Bad Monkey can hang with any of them. Check out this clip I did with mine....

Sounds good, Mr. Starr! Thanks for the video - I've been thinking about this pedal. (Trying to decide if it is anything not already covered by my Green Screamer).

Well, It is a little like a Tube Screamer. It seems a little smoother, and having the bass knob really helps....One thing that always bugged me about he screamers was the lack of bass....and for the money, you can't go wrong. I'm gunna buy a third one.

Re: Digitech Bad Monkey

Because I have a TS808HW and a Hardwire CM2, I have no need for the Bad Monkey. That said, the CM2 is apparently the ultimate version of the Bad Monkey. Knowing what that pedal can do, I think the Bad Monkey wouldn't be that bad, though it IS still a TS variant of sorts.
