I know there is no such thnig as "the best" of anything. It's all subjective.
I"ve had one of the original run Fulltone CLyde wah's. I've had 2 crybaby gcb-95's , as well as a 535Q. I found the fulltone too "brittle" , and the 535Q wasn't for me after realising I don't want to have to tweak it. I mostly want it to be 1 wah, or maybe have 2-3 settings only. I've considered trying the deluxe clyde from fulltone. I've also heard good things about the RMC classic wah. Currently I still have the normal gcb 95 crybaby. It's not terrible, but it lowers the volume when played. For that reason I love using it for soft , modulated , reverb/delay heavy spacey guitar etc.... However, when it comes to rockin out like kendrix or Jimmy page, it doesn't really make my day...........so , after this long story, i'd like to hear what some others out there have to say about their wah pedals. Why they like them the most etc.. Cheers

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
I would love to know peoples dealings with different wahs. I've been looking to upgrade mine. Anyone ever use the Buddy Guy wah? I've heard great things about the Dimebag Wah when playing with gain. The Ibanez Wheeping Demon looks cool, but almost has to many settings for me.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
i've been through the normal cry baby, the hendrix mark one cry baby, and the boss pw10.
i still have the pw10, as it's really versatile - it also does a good univibe - and a wah tone for me isn't the most organic thing anyway, so i'm cool with digital and potless. for the record, the hendrix was better than the crybaby.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
I have had quite a few of the Vox and Cry baby wah's, right now I have a vintage 70's Crybaby with a mystery phasal inductor that sounds really sweet.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
Crybaby 95Q because of the instant activation and that it starts at the back of the sweep. but I might replace some of the capacitors to make it clearer, there are many simple things that can be done to improve a wah pedal.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
It's between a 60s Vox Clyde and a 60s V846. V846 with my SG is killer, but Clyde with my Les Paul makes me weep. Runners up are my 69 V846 with 1st generation Stack Of Dimes, '70 Marshall Supa Wah and super rare Colorsound Wah with 800mH inductor.
Did the RMC, Fulltone, Dunlop, Vox RI. None have come close to the 60s Vox stuff! http://

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
Right now I have a crybaby gcb-95f (same as a gcb 95 but has a fasel so its a little sweeter) and its ok. I started off with a slash signature crybaby and loved it but 3 broke within 2 months (I only used it for practice never gigged so reliabilty was the reason I switched) I liked rthe sound of the slash a lot more. If money is no concern I would look at area 51 wahs their custom built and sound amazing.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
The Wahs that are built into my GNX4. There are several wahs to chose from and you can change any parameter you want. The rest of the GNX4 isnt super cool. lol.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
modded my GCB95 with the whipple inductor mod which includes a few other parts changes and like it as an alternative to my wheels of fire wah (prototype) from teese which is my favorite.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
Great thread, I've been meaning to start one myself. I have an old Dunlop Crybaby that I bought when I was a teenager. (so you know that bitch is old)
I want a new wah, one that doesn't affect the tone when you're not using it and one that has more "travel". Does that make sense?

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
I like the older Hendrix sig that I have (the one that looks like a Crybaby, not the new one that looks like a Vox). I sawed down the bumpers for easier clicking. I did a full Whipple/TB conversion on a cheap Crybaby I found. I'll probably switch the Hendrix to TB, and remove the buffer. Alternatively, I may put a red Fassel in the modded pedal, I think the Whipple is too dark for my tastes. Those circuits are pretty easy to work on, so I don't mind rooting around in there.

Pricey, but I've only heard a lot of great things about them. More sweep than a Crybaby and true bypass.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
for vintage tone in a modern wah pedal, it's tough to beat a teese. i like the zvex wah probe too. it sounds different than any other wah i've used, maybe because of the integrated SHO. tough to gig with as it doesn't have an actual pedal, but cool to use in the studio.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
Jomo, I have an original (teenager) crybaby that's been painted several times and changed the switch to true bypass, hard to hear the difference with it taken out of the path and only having the extra length of cable (2x 25')...battery strength makes a small difference too..I believe whipple's youtube instructions talks about which components to change for the throw frequencies, don't know if they make an aftermarket product but I've taken off the rubber stoppers to increase it a hair but put them back as it wasn't anything I'd consistently use. I have an orange wah in storage that had a great sound/throw but was finicky...I'll dig up the name.George Dennis was the brand name..finicky but the orange colored model was very vocal and while it worked was my favorite..

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
For me, it's the Ernieball Wah pedal. Very smooth action, light touch, on/off indicator, true bypass and most importantly, wide freq range sweep!

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
^^^^ I've seen those but I have yet to try one out, It may be simpler and cheaper than a Dunlop Rack/Ernie Ball volume controller,
My Slash Crybaby Wah Because, I'm a Slash-Fanboy.. I would like to upgrade to a Dunlop Rack Wah and have a Ernie Ball Volume as the controller (Like how Slash had his Wah-Wah setup in GN'R Days)

I use a '70s Ibanez Bawler wah with humbuckers running into a heavily distorted amp: smooth as silk. I use a BYOC wah with single coils running into a mid gain amp: damn funky.

Re: What is your favorite Wah wah pedal and why?
IMHO it really depends on the amp guitar combination.....I have a number of whas and I grab them according to what guitar and amp I am going to use....the fulltone is nice and I have an old morley that works very well with my fender blues driver...the boss pw wha sound pretty digital but tracks really well....I do not own a ress but I am tempted....also, I have an old EH wha...it seems to have a precusive quality that I dig...I would think it would be very good for metal...but, I tend not to play like that....
