Anyone use Damage Control?
A few years back I was looking at Damage Control tube preamp/distortion pedals online an played on a few at GC. I prefered the Womanizer over the Demonizer because I thought it had a greater range of both tone and crunch. Plus, although the D-nizer is geared toward metal players, I thought the W-nizer produced a better metal tone and crunch.
Lately, I've been window shopping for guitars and gear and took another look at Damage Control's website and it looked like they had a few more products than the last time I looked. I was just curious if anyone uses any Damage Control pedals on a regular basis, for garage, stage, or studio, and what are your feelings on their products.

Re: Anyone use Damage Control?
i had the womanizer for a couple of months and was VERY disappointed. you have to crank it to achieve unity, and there isn't much overdrive to be had anyway. i sold it and got a Zvex box of rock clone and never looked back.
also, the dayum thing is HUGE. like, REALLY HUGE...

Re: Anyone use Damage Control?
I ordered the womanizer, the demonizer, and the really expensive delay thingy....... I eventually sold all three on ebay. Kinda a big hype with no wow factor. Way too much money for no return. I honestly couldnt get a single tone out of any of them that just blew me away. Oh yeah, I have the largest pedal pad MPS offered and none of them would fit on my board....because they are HUGE (the Line6 is big/long and it fits on my pedal board).
If you want a distortion pedal that is extrememly versital, get that goldish yellow line 6 pedal. I had it before the Damage Control stuff and needless to say, Im still using it. I also have a JVM410H 100w head with a 1960 cab and still find myself using the line6 on occasion. Its a great pedal....their green delay pedal is great too although I use my Carbon Copy more. |
