OCD 18V power supply?????

Hey guys' I'm looking at getting an 18volt power supply for my OCD? just a bit confused by the different variations of mains adapters available?? I've seen one that's 18v 1000ma or 18v 500ma, even an 18v 450ma?? Which would be the better/safer option out of these??? I dont wanna go frying my pedal! Any help hugely appreciated!

Re: OCD 18V power supply?????

For an 18v OCD, I used the MXR 18v adapter that is used for the flanger and EQ.

Re: OCD 18V power supply?????

Just bought a T-Rex Fuel Tank Jr and I can run a Y cable (two 9V outlets = 18V) to OCD. Works fine.... GB

Re: OCD 18V power supply?????

my adapter is 18v at 600ma. I think i read on the fulltone website that they have a safeguard built into the pedal to keep people from cooking it. Or maybe it was for folks that use the wrong polarity adapter. The whole negative center pin versus positive center pin thing. I do know that you need a negative center pin for this pedal

The two main things to look at when buying a power supply are the DC output voltage and the center pin orientation. As long as it says 18 DCv output or less it will be ok.

The wrong center pin orientation is what will typically fry your pedal. Check for a symbol on your pedal that looks like +(- which means a negative center pin. This is what most use. But it could look like -(+ which means it has a positive center pin. Once you find this just get the power supply that reads the same as your pedal. Also make sure the pin fits your pedal. The typical measurement is 2.1mm X 5.5mm but you may want to take your pedal with you just to make sure.

The 1000ma, 500ma, etc. just tells you how many milliamps it can put out which will show you if it puts out enough to power your pedal and also dictates how many pedals you can run. Your pedal will only draw the amount of milliamps it needs to operate and ignore the rest which is then passed on to the next pedal in your daisychain. So nothing to worry about there.
